There is no hard and fast rule no policy or regulation you’ll get 10 to 15 days or so to Clear that includes CIF
When you get clearing papers in hand you can Clear CIF until then you’re in full duty status

You can technically clear CIF as soon as you have orders, and go back to get a stamp when you have your clearing papers... however, it would behoove you to not get on your commands bad side (especially on your way out). If you try to sham out of the field by turning in your gear, then chances are that your terminal leave won’t get signed. ust get this last field rotation in and ETS without causing any headaches to yourself and your CoC.

Great advice sir however ETS leave is a touchy thing because holding a Soldiers ETS Leave because he turned in his gear to get out of going to the field is grounds for a IG complaint. At 2 months the Soldier should be focusing on the next chapter of his life. Not a FTX

Seriously? You are considering ending your time in the Army on a flat note to avoid a week and a half in the field? Have you considered that they may NEED you to go due to manpower or skillset shortages?

Do you have any physical ailment stopping you from continuing being a Soldier? If not, then you should re-enlist and do your 20... Big Picture.

Yea go, and then take your gear to a car wash and power wash before turning it in.

My best advice is to get your clearing orders and speak to your nco and plt sgt to turn in your cof gear before the field. You should have been turned in your gear before you knew about the field but if that fails good luck with the FTX

Your orders will tell you exactly how many days you have to clear, this includes CIF turn in. From your ETS count back your terminal leave to your sign out date, then count back the number of days on your orders. That's when you can turn in CIF. Until then, unless it's a SFLTAP appt, you still belong to Uncle Sam.
You could get a memo from your commander to authorize an early turn in, but you need a pretty good reason to convince him why you cant do the job you signed up for for another 2 months.

Have fun on your last FTX. Considering when your ETS is (doing the math it should be around 2 September), when you get back from the field you will have 8-10 days (give or take) to clean all your TA 50 before you receive your Clearing Papers....on or about 16 August. Maybe even sooner. So, again....have fun on your last FTX.

You only get so many days to clear a post. There are generally more provided when exiting the service. So are you ETSing you usually get 30 days. If not you are going on the FTX. Thank you for your service.

If your commander had decided to take you to the field then you are going. The same thing happened to me. I was take. To the field with less than 60 days left on my contract. It sucks but that’s the Army. Billets have to be filled so missions can be completed.
