When you go into a VA do you recognize those who have done heroic acts when they were serving?

Let me add, when I first started working for VA many, many years ago, there was this one elderly veteran, who was barely cognizant of what was going on around him and he would stand shuffling from right to left usually against a wall. Turns out he was a recipient of the Medal of Honor. At another facility, this unassuming fella, sitting in a wheelchair, missing his leg, lost it while serving in the Battle of Peleliu trying to protect his men, supposedly received the Navy Cross. I suppose my question is to point out that while we may get angry and frustrated with the services and staff at the VA, please realize that the veteran next to you could be one who has given something more to save his brothers or sisters while in combat so keep your frustrations pointed in the right direction.
