Every military base has 'that area' that is dangerous and crime-ridden. Where is that area outside posts you have been stationed? Victory Drive outside Ft. Benning?

Young Soldiers are adventurous. After all, they are Soldiers. Telling a Soldier places he can't go is like giving him or her of checklists of places to check out.

That looks like a fine establishment. It is a gentlemen's club and as an officer I am a gentleman.

But in all honestly the first think I did when I got to Bragg I pretty much avoided anything like the such in the city. Now Pirates in Spring Lake is another story.

Always know where your troops are. Way to scout the area and ensure they weren't in there. That's leadership.

Orange Soju tents in Korea. Non-medically approved soju. End up blind or in a coma.

Victory Drive, The Real Home of the Infantry is bad? Sir, that is borderline blasphemy.

We stayed away from the Silver Dollar, outside of Hinesville, when I was there

CSM (Join to see) , I thought military leaders who allowed Victory Drive to be cleaned up (not the Ranger Joe's side, the side headed towards AL), they should have all be brought up on charges! We do not close museums, do we?! We preserve them. Honor them.

Victory Drive was the final FTX for all Infantry soldiers after Basic and AIT, at least through 1988 and hopefully for a few years after that. We lost our identity the day that place changed and a little piece of me died with it...

I first went there in 2000. When I went there in 2013 it looked a whole lot cleaner. I think the city did a great job at cleaning it up. Fayetteville did the same thing with Bragg Blvd. I still wouldn't like to be there at night but it is not what it was.

I used to live one block off of VD when I was home, it wasn't too terrible back in the day. I would have and still will, that is if it is still open, the Outpost.

As for Hinesville, well again I don't know what the bars are like now but back in 1979/80 the Korean Village was the place to be and avoid. I can attest to the fact that it lived up to its name.

Some of the BEST E-2 horror stories started with how they met their wife at the local strip club. I donate this clip to every NCO who has ever had to deal with one of them. For those of you out there who are still married to yours, we salute you.

Strippers are a soldiers kryptonite. You can take a great soldier and turn him into a awful one by adding just one stripper to the mix.

Itaewon in Korea or any given place in Europe covered in red or blue lights...fun for the Joe's back in the day, but a field grade waiting to happen now.

SSG Leonard Johnson - There was a reason we 1980s medics called it the "Parasite Club"...but I spent too much of my pay in various clubs in the Western Corridor...Itaewon was the sophisticated city to us "country boys" up in 3rd Brigade. We worked hard, but we played hard too!

It must be gone because the base is gone but there was a place called "The SNAFU Bar" just outside of Ft. Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis. The 1stSgt warned us about it during his welcome message.

The Harem House in Indy wasn't too far from Ben Harrison when I was there for Recruiting School in '95, no cover for Soldiers and $2.00 cocktails, I was in heaven lol...was funny watching some of my peers spending $100.00 or more on the dancers, but it was their TDY pay, I wasn't in there for the dancers, spent maybe $30.00 the 5 weeks I was there on them, it was the drinks man, the drinks lol!!

Sierra Hotel!
Back in the day Columbus was pretty tame.
Fayetteville was a whole 'nother ball of wax.
The River Walk in San Antonio was another place that was very good at separating GIs from their money.

ARRGH .. TO BE YOUNG AGAIN!!!!
