Which historic military sites have been the most memorable for you?

Well, aside from my own battlefields, one that stands out in my mind is on the British side of Old North Bridge where there are three graves of British soldiers. They tell the tale.

USS ARIZONA Pearl Harbor

I would day USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor, Vietnam Memorial, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, WWll Memorial Wall, Arlington National Cemetery, and a few others.

The Alamo is a great location in downtown San Antonio. Makes you wonder what they were thinking when Santa Ana's army appeared

Although I have never been to Normandy or Pearl Harbor, and suspect those two places would rank high on the list, at the top of the list of places I have been is Gettysburg. No more profound a place in our country, for it was there that our country was reborn. Gettysburg was the beginning of the end of our Civil War. An epic, bloody and vicious fight that was the culmination of many a military career. It is a spooky and amazing location. To walk the ground at dusk, dawn or at night sends chills down the spine and raises the hair on one's neck. The vastness is mind boggling. The numbers incredible. The munitions overwhelming. The death and suffering unmatched. The most famous speech given by an American President was read there. Any American, especially any American military person, who has never been to Gettysburg should make it a point at least at some point in their lives to visit. And not just for an hour or a day, but for at least three days in order to absorb the enormity of it, the significance of it, and the relevance of it still today.

USS Arizona it has left a profound inpression on me & I hope my kids as they travel through their own Journey in the Millitary will make their way their as too.

Others mentioned USS Arizona, which is my favorite. Second is the Republic of Korea military museum in Seoul. Gives a new perspective on Asian history.

The most recent has be Vicksburg which was a heck of a battle. I have been to some around Norfolk but years ago. Each has a story to tell.

Was just at Arlington Cemetery for a burial ceremony of a fellow soldier. I was in awe of those hallowed grounds and at the professionalism and precision of the Old Guard burial team. It's a tough job but those men and women pull it off.

Kings Mountain NC, Cowpens Battlefield SC local to me but having learned the key roles they played in the revolutionary war I couldn't be more amazing I lived near such keystone sights. They shaped the world I live in today, amazing!
