I was told to take th hard right over the easy left. No politics here. A SGM told me this at my promotion board.

A charge both sides of the political spectrum uses in reference to the other.
Here's what I've found from even dealing with local politics, both sides have some good ideas. Even, sometimes when you think they aren't they turn out to be good. For example the right is right that too much money in education doesn't necessarily lead to better outcomes, and perhaps a little fiscal pressure is good. On the other hand the left is right that too much pressure does start leading to compromised outcomes. The challenge is finding the right spot between the two and what that optomized answer is likely varies by community.

Often the easy path is confused with being the right path. Ethics often is in question or even political correctness gets involved. What'is hard now is being candid with out offending to someone who never had their habits ideals and decisions criticized. Making the correct decision will almost always seem unfair to someone. As leaders we must always attempt walk a fine line.

this is one that has gotten me into trouble... I take the hard road and get laughed at... because of the difficulty involved...

Always took the coplex, but right path, wasn't there for a popularity contest.
