Why can we not have normal non headline grabbing political figures?

I couldn't believe this headline therefore I had to look it up, "Florida candidate for U.S. Senate admits sacrificing goat, drinking it's blood." Can we not have normal (I realize that is relative to one's experience) political and public figures? Ok so we all say we wished our politicians were honest and we'd like honest answers to questions we ask but this is over the top. Parts of this article are so outrageous that at first I thought it was satire, but it is not. I hope those registered to vote in FL spend some time reading about where their candidates stand on issues of importance.

CPT (Join to see) Normal is not news or news worthy. That said, this one is just odd, I hope he does not get a vote.

I guess with society going for those 'scratching your head' titles, it causes people to want to read it, especially those that seem far fetched

It would be nice, CPT (Join to see), but in this age of reality TV, the most outrageous personality often wins the day. And politicians know this, so they "go there" sometimes too.

I think you might find that in a rain forest village. Headline grabbing goes back to the Roman Empire and further I'm sure. Bread and circuses.....I believe.

Because politicians are maniacs. Their is no normal anymore just acceptable levels of abnormal. No normal person would want to rub elbows wits the idiots that would be his/her colleagues

CPT (Join to see) - It is just the nature of the beast. Politicians crave headlines and work incredibly hard to get them. Sometimes, however, the headlines they garner are not necessarily ones they hoped to get.

COL Jean (John) F. B. and Capt (Join to see) It shouldn't be that way, that any publicity is good publicity.
