I wonder why do we celebrate Columbus Day? He did Not discover America! He was looking for a trade route to India I do believe. The Vikings, and ST. Brendon of Ireland, were here AT LEAST 500 years BEFORE Columbus! There are settlements here from the Vikings. And recently we have discovered the Chinese artifacts in CA, It has been proven that other cultures had developed sea travel from places far across the Pacific. What are your thoughts on this?

LTC Paul Labrador , because its also my son's birthday lol.
When he was in head start, every 5th of May, a group would come to him to sing him songs.
My son is not Mexican, but because it was Cinco de Mayo (5th of May), he must have been something special to them.

SSG Laureano Pabon, this reminds me of like kindergarten or first grade when My birthday (Sept. 6) was labor day or something. I got home and told my mom, "They are giving everybody the day off for my birthday! I'm special..." It is funny the things that stick with you... I bet your son will remember that one too!

SFC Chris Smith, absolutely not! It sounds good in theory, but it is the same as having the day off after the Super Bowl. Yes granted it is the least productive day for businesses throughout the year, yadda yadda; but it would not feel right without the ability to brag to the coworker whose team lost all day! Same goes for cinco, it would not feel right without being able to turn more lights on and "whisper" around those that are still reeling...
