Why do we get so upset when our candidate is not selected as POTUS?

It's been going on for years. With the US split almost equally, it is a given that someone will be disappointed. The right tolerated 8 years of Obama, and the left survived 4 years of Trump. It all evens out in the long run, so why should we think it's the end of the World? All responses welcomed.

I'm just here with the popcorn to watch the inevitable right vs left name calling and personal attacks.

I try to avoid it here since most internet "debates" are like wrestling with a hog. You get muddy and smelly and the hog enjoys it. I only served under one President that voted for, and he was just the better of two evils at the time. If I had that one to do over, I would vote third party.
That does not mean that I agree with the direction the country has taken.

"The right tolerated 8 years of Obama..." Where? When? I didn't see tolerance. I saw 8 years of racial attacks at him and his family and much more. "Tolerance?" LOL ok.
"The left survived 4 years of Trump..." Really? "It all evens out in the long run..." Where?
The only people who thought it was the end of the world Biden won are the people who attacked the Capitol to stop the certification of the EC...ultimately.

"The right tolerated 8 years of Obama..." Yes, we all remember what that tolerance looked like.

SFC Bernard Walko - Barack Obama is not a racist. It was not "political campaign mudslinging." No let's look at the plain fact that we have had racism for the entire existence of this country. I know people like you love to whitewash history but it's time to face reality.
No one should believe in a "color blind" society. When people like you say "I dOn'T sEe CoLoR" you're blatantly racist. You can't say you don't see color when that is part of a person. You can easily judge someone's character and recognize ethnicity, skin color, etc. He did not tear our country apart it's been torn apart for generations. Be realistic.
The ignorance among you and your like minded friends is just astounding.

It is the policy changes that bother me the most, all the progress that was made under the GOP was trashed by the left as soon as they got into office. The Southern Border Crisis with all those unaccompanied children, drugs pouring in, rapists, and criminals among them. The American people's safety, health, and welfare should be always first. I for one do not want my tax dollars supporting any type of immigration unless it is legal immigration. We all have our opinions just like we all have assholes, I prefer all be done legally in accordance with the US immigration policies.

What progress did the GOP make in the last 4 years? How? The Republican led Senate killed 400 bills the House sent to them. Give me a break. Put the 45 Koolaid down.

SFC Kelly Fuerhoff - First Step Act, Space Force, killing ISIS' leader, lowering drug prices... should I continue?
I'm not here to pick sides -- even though I lean more conservative. The point is that Trump did SOME good in his tenure and I think people who discredit that completely are fools.

First Step Act: That actually falls short of actually making a real "first step" toward fundamental changes and addressing racial disparities in the criminal justice system. Several provisions are problematic and just exacerbate racial disparities in sentencing of individuals and encourage expanding the prison industrial complex. It excludes immigrants from any reforms by penalizing immigrant communities, further widening disparities for non-citizens. No not undocumented immigrants either. It allows for prisons to contract with private corporations that profit from human suffering. It opens the door for "e-carceration." It calls for increased electrical monitoring and home detention which expands incarceration to homes and communities of the impacted individuals - and that further benefits private prison companies. It pushes "faith-based classes or services" which puts the religious freedom of people who are incarcerated at risk as it causes pressure to people to participate in programs based on a faith they don't believe in. First Step Act in no way addresses criminal justice reform at all. The only thing it did good is limiting the use of mandatory minimums - but that can be done through administrative changes in the DoJ. Nothing in this compares to reforms being undertaken at state and local levels actually having an impact.
Space Force: That was not Trump's idea. He didn't come up with it. He had it enacted - ok. Sure. But it wasn't his idea.
Killing ISIS leader - And? ISIS still exists. ISIS wasn't destroyed. Just like there are still elements of AQ out there too. AQ main (their "HQ") may have been done with but there are still branches of AQ out there too. None of that has been destroyed. So ok "yay" - whoppee. It didn't destroy ISIS taking out the figurehead.
Lowering drug prices: He didn't. That EO was nothing more than for show. Without regulatory action, that EO was meaningless. "In October 2018, the president announced his administration’s “Blueprint To Lower Drug Prices,” which included directing Medicare to begin to use reference pricing for Part B drugs—those administered in a physician’s office or hospital, rather than taken at home. As with this most recent order, however, it was only a superficial attempt to convince the American people that his administration was taking action on sky-high prescription drug prices; after touting the policy for months, HHS eventually declined to issue regulations implementing it." When e issued four EOs in July last year, they did little to meaningfully lower prices of prescription drugs. The orders included reviving the plan to eliminate drug rebates, which increases seniors' health insurance premiums and allows limiting importation of drugs for personal use. None of these orders represent any sweeping reforms needed to lower drug prices.
