Does any one have any word as to why Combatives level 1 isn't worth promotion points anymore? Haven't found any guidance on it.

The full requirements and promotion points rules are available in Army Regulation 600–8–19 Personnel-General: Enlisted Promotions and Reductions, published by Headquarters, Department of the Army, Washington, DC 18 December 2015

These are subject to further revision and you should consult the current regulation for any modifications.

Found out that UPL is no longer worth promotion points as well, it was when I was getting looked at for SGT and SSG. Don't understand the change

To my understanding, all new soldiers graduating from basic training are required to be Combatives Level 1 certified and it may have a direct impact on the value of the course when looking at promotion.

Since all soldiers are required to have it, it's no longer an 'additional skill' for the army.

I heard that before also, but the recruits I've put in the Army aren't cmb lvl 1. So i guess they scrapped it.

Trackin, but why would they drop a 40hr course? They did the same thing to UPL. Both are important Army programs, soldiers should be compensated for missed time they could have to do other things.

Some installations offered cmb lvl 1 as part of WLC. Many MOS's ALC also offered it as part of the course. A DA Form 87 was issued for almost anything back in yesteryear. Now, if it's not on a drop down menu, it's not accepted. I'd find an S-1 stud and get it in black and white.

Unfortunately, you are experiencing the ebb and flow of the United States Army ever changing promotion system.
