Why is it that I need permission to exercise my Second Amendment protected right, but not any 1st Amendment Rights?

We have Constitutionally Protected Rights. Why is it always the Left leaning politicos that want to keep their rights but take away others. They use augments that other countries don't have/need the 2nd amendment like laws. The Problem is "We The People" are not like other countries. Our Founder Left Those Countries For the Reasons Liberals are using to enforces their Political Correctness on us.

Because your vocalized opinions don't generally leave a classroom full of dead children to clean up?

Neither my opinions or guns have ever left a classroom full of dead kids. Keep your commie hands off my bang stick.

SSG (Join to see) I couldn't disagree more on every point. Let me address them chronologically. First, our Founders were born here. Their forebears left Europe, primarily England, often because Second Sons were ineligible to inherit estates, and America was full of free land available almost just for the asking. (The Puritans before them left England and Holland because they wanted to practice an oppressive form of religion that was discouraged in Europe.) Finally, most liberals are not trying to take anybody's guns. Many are gun owners like myself. There is a huge and extraordinarily well funded Right Wing Propaganda Machine that wants you to believe that liberal politicians are akin to communists trying to destroy America. The truth is that liberals like myself are highly focused on enforcing Constitutional rights for everyone. As to the 2A, it's really only in recent decades that it was interpreted to give all individuals the absolute right to carry any weapon, anytime, everywhere. That single 28-word sentence with 3 strangely placed commas is, in fact, a very complex issue that reasonable people can disagree on.

Capt Michael Greene
SSgt James Atkinson - Outstanding summary. I would add these tidbits of contentious history: The people who fled "religious persecution" were quite extreme and probably needed to leave. Some of leaders in the colonial villages in America were no better than the Taliban. The Virginia Colony was a solid theocracy. The Puritans didn't want "freedom of religion." They wanted _their religion. I'm glad that the Framers of the Constitution reined those people in. That work continues.

TSgt Frank Shirley - Do you really consider Columbus to be a Founder of The United States of America? The man never even set foot on our continent. Plus, he died several hundred years before our Founders were born.

Capt Michael Greene - Christopher Columbus identified and claimed the Americas for Spaion..so yes technically he would be the founder.

First there is a misnomer here that needs to be clarified. If you are active duty you are not covered under the constitution. You sign that away the moment you join until you take off the uniform. You are covered under the UCMJ. This means the basic rights of a civilian are NOT yours. Once you become a vet then you return to the civilian sector and are covered under those rights.
Second, the fact we have allowed so many of our rights to be taken from us in a slow erosion is sickening. In 1980 I remember being able to play laser tag and paint ball with my buddies in the neighborhood, with parents tsking about how someone was dumb enough to not wear gear. Now a kid can be arrested and expelled form school for a water bubble gun!!! SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED means no one has the right to tell you you cannot carry a weapon of your choice in a manner you choose. We just need to remember that en masse and get back to the basic constitutional carry.
Finally - the first amendment has been eroded to where now words can get you arrested. Use a racial slur and see what happens. Call a woman the wrong term and get slammed for sexual harassment. Decide to not support an LGBT wedding and lose your business. There was a time when we realized words were words and nothing more. Someone used a derogatory term they simply were considered a jerk. The person who it was intended for moved on knowing the jerk was a loser. Now we have safe spaces and trigger reflexes for crine out loud!

SGT (Join to see) - The fact that you are questioning who is covered and who is not is my point exactly. THERE SHOULD NOT BE INFRINGEMENT PERIOD. No need for ANY detail save for the fact you are a US citizen. I had a 22 at age 8 and was out shooting cans in the back area with no parental supervision. My teenage older brothers and sisters all had firearms displayed in their trucks at school no problem.
The second has been gutted because we allowed it to happen - meanwhile voting is now done blatantly illegally. If you did not see what happened this past 2020 I can't help you. VOTER ID PERSONAL IN HOUSE VOTE is not the same as firearms - one is an apple the other a steak.

SPC Dawn Appelberg (Johnson) - again..you have miserably missed the point. The second amendment doesn’t mean That we should be walking around like the old west at all times. Again, if not...why don’t we see athletes ever carrying firearms during games? Or Why didn’t you have a .22 at the age of 3?

SGT (Join to see) - no you just won't be happy until you are agreed with. Sorry I don't give out participation awards. To vote you need prove you are who you say you are, live where you say you live, and vote once. To own a firearm you do not have to prove anything to the government.

Even though "words" can either help and elevate or destroy, hurt and injury someone for years to come,..."weapons" can end your life or someone's else!

SPC Dawn Appelberg (Johnson) - should you be able to yell ‘fire!’ In a crowded theater?

SFC Casey O'Mally
SGT (Join to see) - Yes. Absolutely. And then held accountable for repercussions, if any.
What harm does yelling fire cause if no one moves? What about if there actually IS a fire? Should we then not yell fire for fear of creating panic?
We should be allowed basic freedom in all things - and held accountable for the repercussions of our decisions. If I cause a stampede, charge me with whatever crimes are applicable (wanton endangerment, incitement, etc.). If I shoot an innocent, charge me for that assault (or murder). But restricting ANY right is simply wrong.

First Amendment - Religion and Expression. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
You are held accountable for what you say and write. People are sued, and loose jobs every day due to their activities on social media and other public settings. As we all know you cannot yell fire in a theater. Religion is much the same way. You cannot not openly discriminate against a persons religion but oddly the law has allowed Religions to discriminate against others. A Catholic hospital does not has to offer birth control to employees regardless of their religious affiliation. The law currently sides with the employer here. The Westboro Church is allowed to protest funerals which certainly negatively effect the funeral services of those families who have lost one of our own. The legislation that is most certainly coming with respect to the second amendment will be aimed at limiting access to individuals who pose a potential threat to others. The question will be how do we sort these people out? The Dems are going to be in control so gun owners who are also in the minority can help guide this change to something palatable or live with the consequences. Most people here on RP do not want to see any change and fail to accept that change is coming. Now how do we limit that change? Just saying NO is not going to cut it.

I understand. What you are saying is personal acountability. But when firearmes are concerned they try to punish or take away from everyone because one person did not have acountability. There is already legislation to stop or pose a threat. The bad guys don't care they buy them or steal them. And who gets blamed? Law abiding gun owners? Its a messed up system when polititians blame gun owners because they cant hold the criminals accountable.

SSG (Join to see) - Who is trying to "punish" you. You can't get drunk and drive either. Is that being done to "punish" you?

SSG Edward Tilton - Believe it or not DUIs are unconstitutional. We tolerate them "for the good of society" however the reasoning behind them makes them unconstitutional. DUIs are there because of what damage you may do if, impaired, you hit someone or something. In other words it is the potential of a crime - you are literally being arrested for what if not what has happened.

Those who are sued are sued based on FALSEHOOD. Lies are not freedom of speech. Religion can in fact discriminate based upon moral cultural ideals. The very nature of Religion is a path or set of moral codes they follow. What they cannot do is harm another based upon said code. Refusing to bake a cake based upon religious moral code is not discrimination - we allow Muslims to say no to Jewish and LGBT all the time. Also, to say it is heavily regulated is a misnomer ...we have allowed it to be as an infringement.

Once the Second Amendment is gone, the First Amendment will follow it at a brisk pace. Just research the Istanbul Process and how Hillary Clinton has already given speeches to Islamist leadership about curtailing 1st Amendment speech.

I love how they say, "No one wants to take your guns away." While in the same breath saying, "We should have Australian style gun control." Do people on the left think gun owners are that stupid? Or are they, themselves, uninformed yes men to their party?

SPC Dawn Appelberg (Johnson) - 1. One has to be either a citizen, or a resident alien(green card holder), to own a gun. It is illegal for a non-resident of the US to purchase a gun in the US. 2. What glaring in your face numbers are you referring to?

SGT Edward Wilcox - Yet February of this year they have four states which are going in front of the supreme court with fraudulent voting issues - as well as the fact an entire country was just overthrown by it's military due to Dominion voting mishandling.
Whoops.
Whoops.

To be blunt because not enough people are standing up and doing anything about the gross overreaching of the goverment.
If you have no problem getting a ccl you are part of the problem.
If you give up your rights to carry based on local laws you are part of the problem.
If Americans were to stand up and, at each state say enough you would see the biggest freak out ever. Here in WA we have a draconian law called 594. Our law enforcement won't even support it.
