I made a post in here last night. I just stated how awesome everyone is for being on RallyPoint. It include a pic of a puppy winking and point at the reader. Now it's gone. ??

I posted something about the Valor Clinic Foundation, which helps homeless veterans in our region. The post was well received, voted up, responded to, and I thought worthy of this site.
I cannot find the post anywhere. I search my discussions, searched using the search tool, clicked on my notifications that linked to the post, and nothing is working.
Did someone remove it? Flag it?
Did the post break a rule of some sort??

Honestly, that might have been one of the posts I removed, not really sure, I doubt it because I would have remembered the picture.
As a 3-star admin, when I go to remove a post, I look over the post and try to figure out if it falls within the guidelines and what purpose does it serve the greater community. And while I get it that you were just trying to provide a smile and motivation for people here; the discussion board is meant for exactly that, discussion. We try to maintain it as such. Keep in mind, this isn't like Facebook.
If you want to post a picture, that's awesome, share it. Just keep in mind, we want to see discussions around it. For example; I made a discussion around a picture that showed saying on a wall. The saying said "The most dangerous phrase is 'that's how we always done it'. We hear that a lot in the military and that is the direction the conversation went.
Again, feel free to share your thoughts, ideas and whatever else but keep in mind, this is a discussion forum. Hope that helps shed some light on the situation.

I totally agree with your post as to say this is a discussion forum and I believe that most people log onto to interact with fellow service members and to get different points of view, but it is starting to become Facebook. Just for example, we are getting posts that ask whether or not a person here on RP can wear a dress to the RP convention. I understand the need to have some rules because without them, this would be a madhouse but on the same note, it is hard to hear that posts are deleted because this is admins are trying to keep it more professional when some of the posts are more for FB than RP. Not jumping on you personally, your just the admin that replied.

No big deal, I don't see your comments are "jumping on me". Trust me, we are all trying to do our part but also keep in mind, we still need to have a little fun. There's a fine line we walk on and any input from everyone here is welcomed.
We are working on a notification system similar to what 2ndLt Blais describes. Right now admins can remove inappropriate photos and discussions and merge threads but have no way of notifying the affected member other than through an email or message.
If you have questions about why posts are removed, you can review our guidelines here: http://support.rallypoint.com/customer/portal/articles/1415647-inappropriate-answers-and-discussion-posts
Many recently removed discussions have been promotional or fall into the last category of inappropriate posts, posts that are not of general interest to the RallyPoint community.

Ma'am, I checked the guidelines before posting this. It's no big deal, my post was just to make people smile and motivate them for the day. Thanks for the reply!! :)

MAJ Laurie H. --- What is the status of this notification system that was discussed 11 months ago? Frankly, there needs to be a way for Admins to communicate with RP members before taking action on their posts. Personally I find it to be an affront to professional courtesy when an Admin takes action without so much as "by your leave" and, as a newly minted Admin, I would like to have the tools to avoid this.

GySgt Wayne A. Ekblad - All admin actions regarding a user question, by default, triggers an email notification to the original poster. It's been this way for over 6 months.

LTC Yinon Weiss --- Yes, of course, you are correct. I was reading a little too much into it and, as a result, didn't phrase my concern correctly. What I am actually looking for is a way to be able to communicate with the member posting the question before taking action ... rather than simply notifying him (after the fact) that I took an action.

I have found a lot of posts get deleted or moved without a notification or a reason why. It could just be a glitch with Rallypoint, or an admin thought it was inappropriate for Rallypoint.
I said it in the list of features, I would like to see on Rallypoint a notification of when posts are deleted, moved or combined with another so we can find them again....and if they are deleted why not send a message with why. This could act as checks and balances for the community administrators.

I noticed some posts of mine disappeared too. Though it was my internets just acting funky again.
