Will being in the delayed entry program change my retirement date? Signed my first contract into the DEP 18 March 1999 but went to basic on 15 July 1999. My Diems date is 15 July 99 which I never got corrected but have my original contact still. I've read so many mixed answers on the web, just seeing if anyone has any "Real" experience with this since retirement is only 2 years or less away

DEP is not creditable for retirement, your 20 year mark will be in July, but retirement date will be the end of the month.
PEBD as someone else mentioned is only used for Reserve retirement.
Your DIEMS will only come into play to determine which retirement plan you're eligible for.

Thanks I appreciate it. Just trying to get it all understood for this last little bit I have. Thanks for the response.

You'll have 20 "good" years toward retirement 17MAR2019, but that will only get you a reserve-component retirement. Need the 7300 (or so, give or take a few leap years) active duty points to have that retirement and draw your pension right away. Enjoy your last few years!

Thanks Sir, I'll try my best. Asked branch for the east coast for my last assignment and they sent me to JBLM. So kinda a sour taste in my mouth for the last couple. Guess we will see how I like it here.

yes. The clock starts when you hit basic, not sign the contract.

Don't know if the Army has what is known as constructive time, but mine added on to my actual served time. I reenlisted early and gained credit for the time that would have been accrued. Just another puzzle for you.

DEP does count toward your DIEMS which is the date used to determine your retirement date. Seems like a lot of people answered you without doing any sort of research first.

18 MAR IS YOUR PEBD DATE AND NEVER CHANGES! THAT IS YOUR RYE DATE IN OTHER WORDS YOU RETIREMENT YEAR ENDING DATE!! YOUR ENTRY DATE ONLY AFFECT YOU IF YOU DON'T HAVE A GOOD YEAR IN THE NG OR THE RESERVES!

(1) Time spent in the Delayed Entry Program (DEP) (currently known as the Future Soldiers Program) prior to 1 January 1985 is creditable service. From 1 January 1985 to 28 November 1989, DEP time prior to active duty or service in a Reserve Component is not creditable.
(2) After 28 November 1989, DEP for the Army Reserve and National Guard is creditable if the Soldier performs at least one IDT period prior to basic combat training (BCT). Soldiers who do not perform IDT prior to BCT should have a PEBD of the first day of BCT.
Your AYE (Anniversary Year-end) or RYE (Retirement Year-end) will be the day you enlisted.

Your PEBD (Pay Entry Basic Date) will only be 19990318 if you performed IDT between that date and leaving for BCT. If not your PEBD will be 19990715 the first day you were paid in the military.
This date will only change if you have a break in service.

Did you ever get a final answer on this? I did 10 on active, 10 reserves. And await my retirement to either be approved or denied based on my DEP date- since it would be a reserve retirement. Still unsure- and pending at NPC and it's 3 weeks away.

Did you ever get an answer on this? I am in the same boat, 10 years active, 10 years guard. Joined the delayed entry program in July, but did not go to basic training until November. My retirement application has been pending for some time now.
