I’m looking into reclassing to 74D. I’m just curious if you have weekends off? The school is at Leonard Wood. I was hoping I could go home to be with my family on the weekends if I do go this route. Thanks in advance!

As an NCO you’ll be separated from the rest of the company. You’ll be in a different building all together. You’ll have weekends off, but you’ll be responsible for making all the hit times that’s put out by the DS. Enjoy FLW and good luck

This will be completely dependent of your Cadre. When I was reclassing to 12B at FLW, we did have weekends off as Prior Service. Be we were restricted to the standard travel radius for passes. Anything outside the standard radius for passes required a Leave Form. Again, this will depend on your Cadre. Honestly, just wait til you get there for training and address your questions on this matter if it is not already addressed.

Since you are an MOS-T (Prior service or reclassifying) Soldier. You will get weekends off. All MOS-I and MOS-T Soldiers and NCOs normally report to Staff Duty for in-processing and room assignment.
Expect to attend formations and pt with the rest of the AIT soldiers. Weekends should be yours my friend :)

I was cbrn at Campbell for the duration of my time in and you will do very little of your MOS. FLW is boring and nothing is around for miles. The winters suck with lots of ice

i would avoid going cbrn if i was you the job is slow and opportunities are limited if you arent in a chem unitl which is very likely ive been at bragg for 3 years and have done little to none of my actual job. just my opinion

My unit dropped my current mos. but there is a cbrn slot there. So I’m going to reclass to that so I can stay there.

I wasn’t an MOS-T myself, but there were two MOS-Ts in my class (Charlie Company 82nd CM BN). They were allowed weekends to go do whatever they wanted, as well as doing whatever after class was over. It’s essentially like going to any other school post-IET. They wore civilian clothes after the duty day, had their cell phones (but weren’t allowed to let us use them under threat of NJP) and were able to have food and other things in their rooms. Their rooms were in the worse-off (Specker) barracks during AIT while we had the newer barracks though.
