Forgive me for throwing this into the mix. It's been an ugly election cycle that I think neither RP nor the country at large are proud of. I'm just getting a pulse on our membership. I'm sure there are a lot of folks who might like to know where the military community stands. Voting is anonymous, vote below:

I desperately hope it is Hillary. The thought of Trump in the oval office makes me sick, as does the the thought of religious conservatives regaining the Supreme Court majority and setting us back culturally to the 1950s.

LTC (Join to see) The thought of either in the oval office makes me sick. That is kinda the whole atmosphere of this election. As if the two major parties came together and said "Which two people can we parade about as candidates to prove to the American People we don't care, and you will vote for us anyway?"

PO3 Steven Sherrill - But one of them (Clinton) has knowledge and temperament, the other one is completely lacking in everything.

Neither are ideal candidates, but there is no equality here, no comparison. The only thing that really shocks me is that Donald Trump hasn't been laughed off the trail yet.

LTC (Join to see) - Sadly I have met too many in my life who have knowledge and temperament, but lack common sense, and anything remotely human. Trump hasn't been laughed off the trail because he is expressing (not the racial stuff, that is just moronic) a lot of the frustration that people are feeling with politicians. It is a good time to be a non politician. I kind of blame myself. I have said for a long time we need a non career politician to run for President. The universe, responded. A great military leader like Colin Powell, or James Mattis, Nope. A great economist like Arthur Laffer, or Francis Fukuyama, Nope. An entrepreneur like Bill Gates, or howard Schultz, nope. We got stuck with Donald Trump.

Hillary is going to win, Republicans made sure of it when they nominated the only candidate she could actually beat.

Or you could say Trump is going to win because the establishment democrats cheated the system and nominated the only person Trump can beat. I said it way back when the primaries were going on and Trump started to take the lead. Trump can beat Hillary, but Bernie would have crushed Trump or any other Republican.

Also what is the question you are asking?

Are you asking who do we think will win?

or are you asking Who are we voting for?

Those are two very different questions. I could be voting for Hillary but taking a realistic look at her latest dive in the polls I might think that Trump is going to win.

If you want the pulse of the community or our influence you should be asking who we are voting for.

Maybe you should change the poll to include both questions.

I can't in good conscience vote for either of them. For the first time since I have been eligible to vote I will not be voting.

You should at least vote for the 3rd party candidate you most agree with. That's what I'm doing.

Its sad that Americans are sheep when it comes time to elections. Most Americans get their information from the media and in this day and age from all the crap that is plastered all over Social Media. The age of informed voters is gone and that's truly sad given the resources we have at our disposal. If MSNBC and Facebook say it then it must be true.

If you ask 100 anti-Trump people why they hold the opinions of him they do, I would wager 90 of those 100 people would not be able to substantiate the 30 second sound-bites that have been blasted out by the LameStream Media. Americans just go with what the glowing panel in front of them tells them. The facts that CNN has been caught multiple times manufacturing news, and other stations don't even try to hide their biases doesn't seem to matter to most Americans. Before you say that Fox News does too, believe me, I know ALL the TV news stations are less than reliable. That's why I don't form my opinions based on TV or hearsay; I do my own research. I wish more Americans would do the same.

I won't tell you who to vote for, but whomever you vote for, make sure you KNOW WHY you are voting for that person. Think for yourself. And if you are voting "against" someone, then you are doing it wrong. By voting FOR someone because you are voting AGAINST someone else, then you are saying that you don't care what the person you are voting FOR stands for, just that that person isn't the OTHER person. Yeah, great idea there....

Voting machines have already documented vote-switching, and numerous people have been arrested for multiple voting (many of them bragged about it) The Fix is in.

SFC George Smith Can you imagine the result if this happens. Maybe that's why there is a military plan for post election actions.

I am either going to make a phone call or get one after the election. My father is a hardcore democrat and I am a moderate republican. For the last 2 elections I have had to take the phone call so he can gloat. I am hoping to be able to make at least one phone call in 8 years and rub it in his face.

How can "We the People" rub Trump in anyone's face? (Don't get me wrong, I am in NO WAY a Killary supporter, but when Trump wins, the best we can say is that Killary didn't. Not exactly bragging rights.

I voted based on who I think will secure 270+ votes...not on who I think should take office (which neither should imo).

I used to be like that, but holy moly did that backfire on me in 2013 when folks I voted for at the state level screwed over anyone who owned firearms privately, or was looking into it.

Sorry - I'm not able to edit my previous reply.

SGT Aaron Atwood - I took this poll from the OP to ask how we "felt" vs how we actually voted at the polls. Hope that makes my original response more clear.

Speaking only of mathematics...

You have certain STATES that are predominantly Red or Blue. You have certain STATES that "lean" Red or Blue. You also have "Battlefield" STATES.

Based on CURRENT math.... The Reds MUST win ALL of their STATES, ALL, not SOME, but ALL, of their STATES, in addition to their LEANING STATES, and the BATTLEFIELD STATES, AND take at least one Blue Leaning State.

If they lose a "Home State" the game is over. If the Blues lose a "Home State" they have a health "buffer" and can make it up "mathematically" or in betting terms, can cover the spread.

It's not that the Blues are going to win, it's that the Blues are going to win by X Electoral College Votes. It's entirely possible that the Reds will get the 45+% of the Popular Vote, but only get 200 EC Votes (need 270 to win).

The "Winner Take All" at the State Level means that CA/NY/IL gives a VERY LARGE head start to the Blue party. If you add in the "leaning" VA/PA.... it becomes a very hard hill to climb.

Wait, what is this? A comment that looks at facts and runs the numbers?!?! This can't be so, I mean this is a political thread. You are supposed to come here and say how side a sucks more than side b based on something you heard that they might have said to someone 15+ years ago.

If I could, I would vote this comment up 10000 times! Well said Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS!
