Will today's strike in Syria change the way NK/China thinks or acts in their respective AOs?

A little, I think. The world will take a while to adjust to renewed leadership policies by the US. As allies begin to see consistency in the way we treat our friends and enemies, they will be increasingly on board with us. As adversaries see action in alignment with policy, then diplomacy and deterrence starts to become effective again. Nice to see so many other nations jump in with support for the strike.

The audience of our military strength and policy is no longer just the rigid cold war policy or doctrine. Allies need support and expect it. Adversaries need to be wary and just. We need to be strong and fair. Moral strength to advise while courage to carry both ally and adversary to justified ends are necessary in this newer audience. People talk it and more are beginning to act upon it. We have the opportunity and in my belief the responsibility to mirror the greatest military generation of our nation's past. It is time and WE are capable!

I don't mean to be argumentative, but don't you mean "LACK OF LEADERSHIP"? I don't see allies "getting on board" as much as they are "laughing" at us. Who shoves a foreign dignitary for a spot in a photo? What "leader" does and says the nonsense that the current "person" in office does? I find it interesting how those who RAN from the fight is so eager to send others to fight............that's my 2 cents.

China take a very long view on everything, even NK. While I am sure the Chinese government are no big fans of the regime, the regime does serve one very useful purpose. They are a complete distraction in the region that allows China to get away with more, like building islands in the South China Sea while the world frets, justifiably, about a nuclear NK.
Any time you become less predictable it can play to your advantage. Decisive action and boldness does cause others to at least consider your response. If you never do anything of any consequence (as we have done the previous 8 years) they know they can continue to push and they will.
60 cruise missiles is not a game changer in Syria. It is really to force Russia to make Assad play within some boundaries and norms. I don't think we have any hope of anyone but Assad and Russia winning their civil war so this is about managing the way it is won, not changing the outcome.

Mark my words:
Syria is a distraction so that Russia may do as it pleases in Ukraine.
DPRK is a distraction so that China may do as it pleases in the East and South China Seas.

1LT (Join to see) - Disagree. Belarus is already in Russia's orbit. There is no need for Russia to pull any shenanigans.
Ukraine got invaded because it got uppity, threw out a Russia-friendly government and replaced it with a nationalist one, and because they found oil and natural gas deposits in the Black Sea near Crimea.
Their aim does not appear to be to annex Donetsk-Luhansk-Maripol Olbasts, but rather to topple the current government in Ukraine. I think they have a high probability of success.
None of that is in play in Belarus. I would be very surprised if any action occurs there.

hopefully you are right, but as we are distracted domestically, and in Afghanistan, If I were Putin and I wanted to get back the Balkan states, this would be a really good time. US military is thin. Hopefully you are right, I hope you are.

What are Putin's motives behind Russia's huge military exercises?
The Zapad 2017 war-games will take place next month in Russia's neighboring ally of Belarus.

Must disagree fear is NOT respect. Right now we are feared-an enemy responding from fear is far more dangerous to all than one who respects opponent. I do not feel we were 'Pushed Around' under Obama. More like we were NOT bullies.
