I'm involved with a group with severe eye issues. There are two companies that make some basic models worldwide. Their selection is small. If you could have one with your unit or branch of service, favorite sports team, color for a cause, would you buy one instead of the basic black Joe Pirate one? I've tried adhesives and they just fall off within an hour and irritate my eyelashes. Plus, I might want to join high fashion and color match my patch in camo for instance. What do you think?

This is the one I would want, with a CG racing stripe, of course!

I would try and find one that had either my unit crest on it or maybe even color coordinate it with the uniform.

Hell I don' have an eye injury but I'd wear an Eagle Globe an anchor patch in a heart beat. My Dad had a retired friend with a glass eye that had a senior chiefs insignia instead of an iris and pupil, but as a four year old, it scared the hell out of me.

With eye injuries becoming more common and other reasons to require an eye patch would you wear a unit patch?

I can just see it now, a new AR 670-1 regulation on the wearing of eye patches and any ornamentation on them!

@PO1 John Miller. You are right; it could potentially open a whole new can of worms. However I was thinking more about off duty, wounded warrior and retired, as well as some diseases that can caused partial blindness. How about your favorite sports team emblem?

I agree, no branch of the service will allow more than just a black  or white patch. Part of the reason is the supply line getting a patch to met the standards of a uniform regulation. I am sure they may go as far as a camo color patch to be worn with BDU's.  As far as wearing the patch off duty, or for the wounded warrior and  retiree, no standard would be regulated. I think we can put that can of worms back on the shelf. Because they would be wearing a patch supplied by VA Hospital or the BX if they choose to wear one. What do they wear now?

I would probably wear one with the Navy seal, if I had an eye injury that required me to wear an eye patch.

If Kyle Carpenter can do a glass eye with a PH in it, an eye patch with a unit crest is wholly appropriate.

I think it would be awesome to be able to wear an eyepatch with a unit design on it.
