If the military has been "gutted", which I would dispute, it is because we are squandering a lot of hard-won experience by forcing out a lot of veterans who learned the hard way how to fight and win in recent conflicts. We can reinvest in equipment. New leaders bring different missions. But no amount of training will replace the practical experience that we are hemorraging.

Sequestration was done by Congress. You are being disingenuous by placing blame solely on the Executive Branch.

Capt (Join to see) -The unfortunate thing is that there is no room for "moderates" to get elected in this current political climate. Those that don't FULLY endorse a party line are slammed as "wafflers" and "flip-floppers" or ignored by a party for a more extreme left/right wing candidate.

I was really excited when the Republican Tea-Party VERY first emerged because they said "The Republican party has lost it's way. It's time to revamp the party." And then I realized that they were even more far off the "moderate path" than either party.....

It would be nice to see a moderate from EITHER party elected that could successfully navigate to get a compromise between the parties.

By no means did I intend on leaving congress out of the mess that has been created. But the bulk of the Muslim and debt / deficet problems are a direct result of Obama's ideology and Executive Orders. Regardless of who created the the problem is it time for, as our Founding Fathers wrote repeatedly it is the responsibility of the American Citizens to remove the officials that are perverting the Constitution? Let me also be clear this has nothing to do with "Party's", this is an American problem.

Our military is already constitutionally run by civilian leaders. Also with greater reliance on citizen-soldiers (reserve components), it also contributes to civilianizing our military

With the Military being gutted by the Commander and Chief, is it time for a Civilian Military?

You should include a cost comparison of Military and their civilian contractor equivalent...that might be the first reason on why one would say no.

I guess i'm a little slow on the draw sir. I'm assuming your statement is a reference to how cheaply we get paid? Is that correct, or am i just really missing the point sir?

SPC (Join to see) - I wouldn't say how cheaply we get paid, as to it's how overpaid contractors can be for doing the same line of work.

If you factor in the lack of taxes on bah and bas and healthcare costs you realize you really aren't paid cheaply.

I thought we did have one. It was called Blackwater, and how did that end up?

Your linked posting is an incredibly biased opinion piece that contains very little factually useful information. You say it has nothing to do with political parties yet you focus entirely on Obama using fairly standard far right rhetoric. I'm not entirely sure what this is supposed to bring to the discussion so I'm just going to go with no, the American people should not arm themselves against the government and whatever made up invasion force you concocted.

RallyPoint is supposed to be a professional forum, I don't like seeing posts like this on here.
