Yes, our women are still driving on at Ranger School! Are you happy or mad?

Good information, CPT Ron Snyder, but that was over 40 years ago...I cannot imagine that today's military leadership would break a barrier for women in this fashion.

SGM Matthew Quick I think the issue with this topic, and widespread comments, are in large part due to the era you were in the Army and you age. And, second based on concerns of lowering the standards to enable anyone to succeed. That latter is what would make me mad.

I agree on Airborne School from me experience in 1985, but not Air Assault school from what I saw in 1992. Climb to Glory.

Failing peers, patrols and a plethora of Major Minus's should result in a drop from the course. All standards were not kept the same. At a minimum, 2 should have been released.

TSgt Hunter Logan They have to go to a board to access the result of their failure. They could be a day one or a darby insert. After that they will get the final result. I am sure this is what they are waiting for.

I don't think anyone is dancing around that they didn't make it. We are dancing around that they held them to the standard. A female will make it one day. But they have to earn it. So far there has been a lot of disparity in the way a male goes to ranger school and the females that went.

They stilI need to hold their heads up high. If they are recycled they will be stronger and smarter to complete it the second time around.

They will not be physically stronger, but will be more situationally aware. 6 days to recover before starting Darby again isn't going to give their body types enough time to recover.

Hunter, to any men that gloats women failure at Ranger School, have these men attempt to do the mission of a Female Soldier from the Cultural Support Teams.

Wait what? Everyone that needs to go will go? I will take you being in the AF as the reason why you say that. The Army can't send enough people. Even infantry officer needs to go. Just so you know I am one of 3 in my Battalion that are Ranger qualified.

I am in an infantry unit. I have yet to have been saved by a female. I am not saying that it can't happen but there are not females in the infantry. But there men. i have fought with them. I am going to say that I think the ones that I am fighting with should be going first before someone that isn't infantry goes.

I am mistaken, with my experience in the Air Force people who need to go to special course will make it in their time requirements most of the time. I was unaware how tight entry to ranger school is

Sir, I guess this post didn't come out right, it was kind of a generalization that I'd someone is mad at the women in the school they may be part of the problem. It appears the initial comment has failed.

If they can perform the related duties, cool.  But i don't like the agenda of Women's Lib pushing it, and I'm curious what reactions will be the minute we have a future female POW.

To be clear, the reason I mention Women's Lib movement...is that the Marine Corps already did testing for over 2 years, but somehow this testing is going to be redone by every branch?  Can they suddenly do 3 pull-ups in an Army Uniform? (Read: Can they pull themselves and their gear up over an obstacle even once?)  Are Army BDUs that much lighter than the USMC Digiflage (which actually works so much better, digitally speaking, that the Army wanted it -- after their 5 million dollar blunder on Army Digiflage Ver.01)?

Women tested by the Corps only did School of Infantry.  That's what Army calls AIT for Infantry MOSs.  It wasn't SpecOps, it wasnt Scout Sniper course, or a Recon Indoc....just the basics.

So if one fails USMC SOI, and then passes Army Rangers, whether they are male or female...now we get a better grasp on why Marines (03XXs) laugh at Rangers.  =)

Good news...from the viewpoint that perhaps the standards haven't been too watered down just yet. I do however wish them luck.

What I still don't get is other branches' further attempts after the USMC spent over 2 full years on this with zero positive results. I mean I grasp a bit of politics and a dash of Women's Lib movement pushing it, but can ya break it down? =)
