So I'm at a friend's house and he has a lady friend over who has a young son. He is watching a show called "Bob the Builder" and one character says "I'll take the saw." I immediately think of the M249 rather than the tool.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

When I punctuate an explanatory statement with "tracking?" and I am met with cartoonish blank stares and silence. :)

I've never seen so much butthurt over a persons preference to no using a word before, makes me think everyone took it as a personal offense.

Somebody will ask me if I am ready to jot down a note in the office and respond with "send it" or if I send a file over to a coworker I'll yell out "Splash out!" They just look at me like I have a third eye.

SSG Eric Eck -
Get over yourself. I forgot about you as soon as I hit "send" on comment. But, ok, I will bite, it was the juvenile condescension in your comment.

I do the "ready to copy?" when I am giving out information. I also get, "what?" there as well. Lol.

When you still don't walk on the grass.
When you want a drowsy person to stand up and move to the back of the room in a college class or staff meeting.

You know you are a veteran when you see the American Flag moving in the wind. You know you are a veteran when you hear the Marine Hymn and it fills you with pride. You know you are a veteran when you thank a decorated member of the military for their service to our country in either Iraq or Afghanistan. You know you are a veteran when you try to slng along when the Star Spangled Banner is sung at sporting events..You know you are a veteran when you almost salute an officer at a Military event..
I just know I am a veteran and at my age (80) I am thankful for all our military has accomplished since I came on the scene in 1935... And I know I am a veteran because it is something that nobody can take away from me. I earned the title of Veteran and I feel sorry if anyone has a problem with that title ..

SSG (ret) William Martin - We had a candle light vigil last summer in Foxboro. MA for Gunny Sullivan USMC who was killed by an Islamic Terrorist in Chattanooga. And a young girl who was about ten years old sang after both the National Anthem and then The Marines Hymn...after she finishing singing; there was not a dry eye in the audience. She got a standing ovation for several seconds after finishing both songs. The Key Note Speaker then said "Don't think I can follow that" and thanked the young girl .. I told the guy next to me; a member of a Motorcycle Cycle Club who saw me tear up..."Boy there's lot of pollen in the air tonight causing my eyes to water" And he said "Yea right"..

Someone asks for the time, and I tell them it is 1300. Or, when I look at someone in uniform, and notice that their shoes need to be polished, or they need a haircut.

Guilty of those too. I drive my wife nuts when we are watchin a movie and a character shows up in uniform: I pause it so I can "inspect" and point out the mistakes.

"and notice that their shoes need to be polished or they need a haircut".....that is from your Marine days, Ted...

I still get on my kids if their shoes aren't shined and I tell the guys to get a haircut and very l often they reply "Just because you have a crew cut doesn't meant I have to get one"..

When instead of saying "What?" you say "Say Again?" I use that way too often now.
