Has your military experience inspired you to get a tattoo?

My first tat is on my upper arm near the shoulder. I knew even at 19 that I wanted to have a career after the Corps and back then tats weren't as accepted as they are today. The bigger reason was I was still afraid to get my butt handed to me from my Dad..... :-) Tat 2 and 3 were years after the Corps. The one I posted was when I turned 50. Maybe a middle age thingy???

On the contrary.

I got a tattoo because of the military. After I got my smallpox shot I got a Big Sacrifice cross tattooed over it. I'll finish it eventually. I also want to get the Punisher Bolt on my opposite arm with the dates of my service whenever it is completed.

36% seems really low... Most personnel I know have one... I figured the percentage would be in the 70's....

I thought of getting a tattoo recently, but never when I was in the military.
But, can tattoos hide an embarrassing scar? I've got scar tissue on my back and I think getting a tattoo will somehow miraculously hide it. Any opinion?

Yes I got mine after deployment.

No, I do however understand the service members who have been influenced to get ink to symbolize or memorialize a significant event in their lives.

I most certainly have gotten tattoos since enlisting, although I've never been 10 status I have been activated twice for disaster relief. My tattoos aren't related to that though, the one military related tattoo I have is for my love of my brothers and sisters of the North Dakota Army National Guard. Looking at it at first glance you wouldn't see that but if you know me and you see it you get the picture.

Oh yeah. The first thing I did is get a tattoo and then after this deployment coming up mother one is going to happen. Shame their are so few tattoo artist in sasebo

I don't have any tatoos, although I've thought about it.
