Do you support the American Heroes COLA Act and the three following changes 1. Give veterans who have a service connected disability a 25% pay raise. 2. Give veterans who have a service connected disability rating of 60% or more Quality Of life payments using the disability scale making payment proportional to the veteran's disability rating. Allow for back pay 3 yrs for 100% or less and 5 yrs for permanent and total disability. 3. Allow veterans who have a service connected disability rating of 100% or permanent and total disabled that not receiving military retirement to receive the Maximum VA pension payments. Allowing for back pay three years for 100% and five years for permanent and total disability?

After the death of Ambassador Stevens, why didn't we send a massive force in to Libya? A foreign power killed an American Ambassador, seams like a declaration of war to me.

If you don't believe ISIS is a foreign power, we'll just have to agree to disagree. They may not fit the antiquated definition of a national government but, they are a foreign government.
Besides, the U.S. hasn't declared war on anyone since World War II but, we still go into other countries and fight (and die) when it we think we can benefit (or profit) from doing so.

Oh, but we have declared war on another country. The invasion of Granada was a military incursion on a sovereign nation: war.

LCDR Harding Harrison - The United States and the Caribbean Peace Force (Barbados, Jamaica, and The Organization of Eastern Caribbean States) invaded Granada on 25 October 1983, without a formal declaration of war by the United States Congress. In fact, many members of congress didn't know about the invasion until it was broadcast on the afternoon news. The last time the Congress of the United States formally voted to declared war was in 1942 when we declared war against Bulgaria, Hungary, and Romania. Congress has voted to approve "President's call to arms" several times since then. Currently, there is no "President's call to arms" or any other type of declaration of war to fight anywhere in the world except the "Authorization to Use Military Force" (AUMF) granted to President Bush, signed by President Bush on 18 September 2001. Public Law 107-40 Joint Resolution granted the President to "use United States Armed Forces against those responsible for the recent attacks launched against the United States". President Obama is still using that authority to send troops to where ever he wants to fight who ever he wants. Congress hasn't the courage to declare war and they don't have the courage to repeal Public Law 107-40.

Public Law 107-40 was a total knee-jerk reaction without sufficient vetting or support processes to prove need. The use of it by BO is disgraceful. In 1982 I was assigned to Rapid Deployment Force Bravo (Medical) and we were all wondering about our future when the Beirut bombing went down with Grenada invaded 2 days later. My Marine Corps "running mate" in the RDF was an infantry captain. We about had to sedate him when the bombing happened. We wound up in Beeville, awaiting further assignment. After 16 days, we all went home. Semper Fi.

Why are you granted the right to any posts or forum here, when you are part of the problem people cutting pay and retirement? Trying to force my healthcare pay to be bought on the exchange would cost me my retirement. You didn't stand up for Americans for the last 7 1/2 years so why should we Veterans and Active Duty lend you our time now?

You have served over thirty years and you have not yet grown up. Blocking hearings on the President's Supreme Court nominee reminds me of a spoiled child that throws a temper tantrum when he does not get his way. When are you going to grow up and do something for the country and the voters who elected you?

Actually, blocking an Obama appointment to the Supreme Court is the only thing Senate Republicans have done in the past eight years that earns them their pay. Obama already has appointed two liberal morons to the court. With the death of Scolia the court remains divided 4-4 and any ties gets remanded back down to the lower court. As long as the republicans hold a Majority in the Senate, no SCOTUS nominee by a liberal democratic president will get a confirmation hearing.

So you are for the constitution when it suits you but not when it doesn't? The Senate is required to "advise and consent" to the President's appointments by the constitution.

Senator-one of your most controversial actions in your tenure was the refusal to consider President Obama's nomination for the Supreme Court. Your rationale, let the people and/or next President do it ,was attacked by two legal professionals,Kar and Mazzone, who discussed how there have been 6 similar incidents in our history. Their analysis allegedly demonstrates that your decision was unprecedented, and completely wrong. Did you respond to this analysis? If not, please give us a response. BTW,I am a Republican and have always supported your actions in the Senate

Justice Scolia was the one who died and left a vacancy on SCOTUS. He was a confirmed thinker and holder of "Original Intent." Neither of the last two SCOTUS appointments by Obama had any credentials except as social progressive liberal jurists from good old Harvard like Obama. The litmus test over such 'Original Intent' jurists was debated in the pages of National Review and the Puget Sound Law Review, and affirmed by Attorney General Ed Meese. Judge Bork failed that test because he had no idea what 'Original Intent' meant, and why social progressives abhor such jurists with a passion. If you dont believe me, the NAACP calls Justice Clarence Thomas an "Uncle Tom!"

Sir: The Republicans seem so gun-shy about "shutting down the government". How do we stop funding President Obama's programs and enabling his extra-Constitutional over-reach of Presidential authority if we're not willing to shut down the government? What other mechanism is available, other than just "going along" and continuing to fund his huge-government deficit spending programs?
Sincerely,
Hugh Blanchard

And, how do we eventually pay off the national debt? We need a real plan, something other than bankrupting future taxpayers or trying to seize the assets of my generation when we die. I just read an interesting statement from a senior IRS official who stated that "The IRS has all the time in the world to pay off the deficit, since we plan on getting at least 35% of the assets of the Baby Boom when they die." Any ideas?
Regards,
Hugh Blanchard

Senator McConnell, you will note that there are numerous questions asking about term limits. The real question is when are YOU retiring. The voters are tired of over the hill , rich, politicians in Washington doing nothing for the good of the country. A perfect example is YOUR refusal to vote on the Supreme Court Justice nominated by our President. Why don't you and the other obstructionist in Congress get off your butt and work for the good of the United States of America for a change, you have done nothing but obstruct for 7.5 years now.

Thank you Senator McConnell for taking the time to answer our questions. I would like to hear your position on many of the issues in Congress that affect the military such as TRICARE/military healthcare reform, changes to retirement system and efforts to eliminate/reduce Commissary benefits.
