Henry David Thoreau writes that “All men recognize the right of revolution; that is, the right to refuse allegiance to, and to resist, the government, when its tyranny or its inefficiency are great and unendurable”. This may be a fact, but what is not a fact is that all men (and women) do not recognize, or at least agree, on when it becomes a necessity to revolt or conduct revolution. Although we may have differing ideas, I believe that we have already been given an exact measurement as to what constitutes an act of revolution against the American government.
In present day America, citizens riot and protest in the streets for any number of reasons. As of the announcement that Donald Trump won the election for President of the United States in November of 2016, it would seem that any reason is also a good reason to go out and call for civil war. That being said, I believe that this is absolute nonsense. I, however, seem to be the minority opinion. In September of 2017, Katie Williams wrote an article for the website “The Hill” in which she stated, “Anti-fascist activists, or ‘antifa’, increasingly mobilized in the wake of President Trump’s election, are unapologetic about what they describe as the necessary use of violence to combat authoritarianism.” Authoritarianism is defined as the enforcement of strict obedience to authority at the expense of personal freedom. Interestingly enough, the only authority that has been asked to be obedient to is the law and I do not believe that abiding by the law is any reason to riot or revolt against the President of the United States.
In fact, the founding fathers, in their ultimate wisdom and uncanny ability to foresee the trials of this country long before they ever occur, left all of us an exact set of circumstances in which it is proper to rise up against our government. In the second paragraph of the United States’ Declaration of Independence, the founding fathers wrote,
“We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness – That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its Foundation on such Principles, and organizing its Powers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”
It was stated outright at the very moment that our country became a country, when the founding fathers initiated their own revolution against the tyrannical government of Great Britain, the very circumstances that they say fit to begin revolution.
The opposition may argue that we are experiencing a similar state of affairs at present but I submit that in order for a government or, in the case of the always hated President Donald Trump, an individual in government to be considered to be acting in a fashion that constitutes being defined as destructive that one must first identify the laws or article of the constitution that is being violated or disregarded. I ask that those who believe the government has reached a point in which it is time to take up arms against it to point out where violations have been purposefully perpetrated, for without being able to clearly demonstrate that one’s government has overstepped their bounds into realm of tyranny the peoples who choose to arm themselves against a lawful government are not revolutionaries but terrorists; terrorists are defined as persons who use unlawful violence in the pursuit of political aims.
I submit that, as citizens of what, in my opinion, is the greatest country to ever be, that we understand that there is a need for revolution when our government turns on us, but that time is not now. I believe that if and or when the time to take up arms is upon us that every man and woman will be able to see it. I believe that it is time that the citizens of this country recognize not only that there may be a time for revolution but that they recognize the correct set of circumstances laid out for us by our founding fathers to know when that time has come.

This and the other responses (one excepted) appear a reasonable issue at hand. Reasonable insofar as there are those who have raised the issue by their provocative statements and actions as published in many news platforms. Granted, there are times when it appears that our President is speaking quickly without thought to the consequences. Some conversations I have had with some of my more conservative friends indicate otherwise.
I have always tended toward the middle politically, and yet, there are some things that I am instantly reactive to, perhaps somewhat due to my PTS symptoms, but more so I believe to be from my early teachings on honesty, the patriotism of my forebears, and the possibility, always, of a better way of prosecuting peace without simply regressing to war.
I view myself as a warrior since I have actually been in battle. However, even though I carried an M-16 and anywhere from 16 to 18 magazines, I was also carrying my medical bag as the platoon Corpsman. My job was to save lives and I was actually very well trained for that. In the few months I was in country (Dai Loc and Hoi An area with III MAF, 2nd CAG) I never shot a round in anger, offensively or defensively. My Marines said my primary job was to always be ready to take care of them. And I did.
What I see in politics today is sometimes even more frightening than what I saw growing up in the 50's and 60's, knowing that in any moment are world could disappear in a cloud of atomic fury; a senseless end to civilization.
Today's politics could conceivably have similar circumstances if allowed to go too far, but most of what I see today does not appear to be of that gravity. It is more a time of exaggerated politics, a radical move to divisionism, and a truly worrisome tendency to use propaganda and excitable buzzwords to increase that division. My most sincere hope is that enough people are reasonable enough to see through all of the garbage being spewed out on both extremes of the political divide. There seems to be very little middle ground when we listen to the evening news. Provocative screaming seems to be primary mode of communication. And THAT my friends, really and truly pisses me off! Someone, somewhere, soon, and then often, needs to start saying "Enough!"
We need to stop yelling and start using the brains given to us through providence. Hmmm; my apologies, I seem to have run on a bit. Ah well; the privilege of being old and willing to speak my piece whenever I damn well want to. My thanks to any willing to read and listen. /"Doc" Bob Barquist

I for one would love ABSOLUTELY LOVE curb stomping some Communist ANTIFA retard. Dig deep enough in their history and you’ll see that ANTIFA was a Soviet front that although started against Facist infecected the rest of Western Europe during the Ukrainian genocide. Such as the Constitution was written with the 2nd Amendment in the Bill of Rights and with all of Oaths of Enlistment to Support and defend the Constitution it is clear that it would be the Duty of all Military Members and Civilians to revolt if any group tries to change our form of Government such as the call by many that we should have a Socialist Governement. That would kill our Constitution, Freedom of Liberty, Capitalism, everything that makes us a Republic and Unique would on the line and the Oathes we took to Preserve and Defend it take affect and not to follow blindly leaders who tell us to change with it.

The media makes things a lot worse than they really are. Everyone bites at the hate bait until the media’s intentions are met. I for one can’t stand antifa and what they stand for, however, as long as they don’t do anything to directly place my family, friends or myself in danger... I won’t place any of them on my CONUS kill list. I just breathe and know that they are miserable people with no life and certainly no future.
Mr. Trump was duly elected by the Representatives of the States under the Electoral College System. That there is a segment of society which opposes how our governmental system functions says more about them than it does those who will abide by the rule of law. The "anachists of antifas" are disruptors looking for an excuse to tear down a more open form for a Communist form of Socialism which will remove personal incentives to achieve greater personal development. Even the US Armed Forces allow greater freedom within its system than what was available to civilians under Communist Systems of the 20th Century.

By doing away with the electoral college you hand over all strenght of control to the location with greater population advantage. Look at the history of a few locations using dead people to turn political fortunes and you realize a straight numbers game as you would prefer would become a full on assault of less populated regions. That would more effectively cause a new civil war to occur, maybe not a Blue vs Grey type but one which would further divide the Nation. More than the extremes of the two parties have done already.

My issue is politics in general and our politicians in general. Nothing I see say any of them are ACTING in the BEST INTEREST of ALL the American PEOPLE. They make decisions that are detrimental to the majority of Americans when they themselves are removed from the same consequences. They take money from Social Security which is 100% tax payer funded for budget shortfalls that are the consequences of their decision making, money meant for the retirement of Americans who get a small amount yet they retire from Congress and other political office with TAX PAYER FUNDED retirement plans worth hundreds of thousands a year AND FULL MEDICAL. I could go on but my main point is lets all stop being Republicans and Democrats and BE AMERICANS

Revoting and taking up arms in my opinion is the last resort. It has to be something you are willing to die for. The examples comes from our Founding Fathers and the People. They put all their wealth and lives on the line. Does anyone think this is the time and place for a revolt? We still have our right but the Liberals want to take the 1st and 2nd and rewrite the constitution. The only way to stop them is to vote and get rid of the political whores in our government for personal gain. I can guess that there will be protests and riots when of our rights are taken away. There has been a desenitizing our Troops toward the people by demonizing religion. Why do they need pagan and athetist chaplins? There is no emotion to killing our own when there is no GOD. I believe there is a hidden agenda plan if the Liberals take over the government, They will conficate all weapons, moderns & ancient, Bows and blades. The National Guards has many Internment/Resettlement units called Special Troop Battalions, MOS Code 31E. You have to wonder why they exist. Once the dust settles, the US will be governed like Europe, Hate Speech, blade weapons and offensive language will land you in jail. Only the police and the military will have guns. It would take great engeering and technical knowledge to overcome a police state. It would take massive numbers of people wiilling to die overcome a police state. What do you think?
