Henry David Thoreau writes that “All men recognize the right of revolution; that is, the right to refuse allegiance to, and to resist, the government, when its tyranny or its inefficiency are great and unendurable”. This may be a fact, but what is not a fact is that all men (and women) do not recognize, or at least agree, on when it becomes a necessity to revolt or conduct revolution. Although we may have differing ideas, I believe that we have already been given an exact measurement as to what constitutes an act of revolution against the American government.
In present day America, citizens riot and protest in the streets for any number of reasons. As of the announcement that Donald Trump won the election for President of the United States in November of 2016, it would seem that any reason is also a good reason to go out and call for civil war. That being said, I believe that this is absolute nonsense. I, however, seem to be the minority opinion. In September of 2017, Katie Williams wrote an article for the website “The Hill” in which she stated, “Anti-fascist activists, or ‘antifa’, increasingly mobilized in the wake of President Trump’s election, are unapologetic about what they describe as the necessary use of violence to combat authoritarianism.” Authoritarianism is defined as the enforcement of strict obedience to authority at the expense of personal freedom. Interestingly enough, the only authority that has been asked to be obedient to is the law and I do not believe that abiding by the law is any reason to riot or revolt against the President of the United States.
In fact, the founding fathers, in their ultimate wisdom and uncanny ability to foresee the trials of this country long before they ever occur, left all of us an exact set of circumstances in which it is proper to rise up against our government. In the second paragraph of the United States’ Declaration of Independence, the founding fathers wrote,
“We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness – That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its Foundation on such Principles, and organizing its Powers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”
It was stated outright at the very moment that our country became a country, when the founding fathers initiated their own revolution against the tyrannical government of Great Britain, the very circumstances that they say fit to begin revolution.
The opposition may argue that we are experiencing a similar state of affairs at present but I submit that in order for a government or, in the case of the always hated President Donald Trump, an individual in government to be considered to be acting in a fashion that constitutes being defined as destructive that one must first identify the laws or article of the constitution that is being violated or disregarded. I ask that those who believe the government has reached a point in which it is time to take up arms against it to point out where violations have been purposefully perpetrated, for without being able to clearly demonstrate that one’s government has overstepped their bounds into realm of tyranny the peoples who choose to arm themselves against a lawful government are not revolutionaries but terrorists; terrorists are defined as persons who use unlawful violence in the pursuit of political aims.
I submit that, as citizens of what, in my opinion, is the greatest country to ever be, that we understand that there is a need for revolution when our government turns on us, but that time is not now. I believe that if and or when the time to take up arms is upon us that every man and woman will be able to see it. I believe that it is time that the citizens of this country recognize not only that there may be a time for revolution but that they recognize the correct set of circumstances laid out for us by our founding fathers to know when that time has come.

As a former Sgt 101st/82Abn and retired Police Sgt I believe that a revolt is not in the wind , but if the Constitution was arbitrarily & Illegally changed by the far left loons by some unimaginable reason there would be a revolt which in fact as in the last Election good Americans would come out of the woodwork & boy would they be surprised.

The far left loons have arbitrarily and illegally changed and added to the constitution as to be unrecognizable to its original signers. Not to mention morally decent human beings today.

I don't think the average individual thought about what's going on now.. I didn't...though I may simply be a product of my times. It never occurred to me that a government might be in revolt against the president... at least not in America.
Yet it seems that the government is indeed in heavy revolt. Huge and unapologetic revolt. Department heads of bureaucracies laughing in the faces of GOP lawmakers. Lying smugly.
Treason? Some of these folks probably do deserve hanging.. Not some overblown statement there.
I am sure there are many murders... physical, or even economic , or social..which have been swept under the rug.
When the IRS can be weaponized and almost nothing is done? When each bureaucratic fiefdom can laugh in the face of congressional oversight committees while passing the buck..
Disdaining to provide information to said lawmakers... their superiors?
Maybe it is time but I haven't a clue as to the how.
My hope is that eventually there will be enough of a slipup to get just one of these dominos to turn on another or to start the avalanche which will put many in jail.
Given that the Information Age has passed into the sphere of artificial intelligence controlled by the leftists and new world order crowd I have my doubts.

I believe that the Left, the Liberals, the Democrats, the Socialists or whatever you call them are starting to lose ground and if we continue to stay the course we will come out on top, but it will take time a long time which is good in many ways. You do not want overnight change. Should we end up having a revolution, revolt, semi psuedo civil war it will not be anywhere close to what was experienced in the past. Physical skirmishes, hi-tech type issues etc. There will be definitely be deaths and injuries but here and there not battle lines drawn ( assassinations also). As long as we can continue with the direction we are headed with Trump I believe we'll be fine

We revolt once Article V (Convention of States) has failed us. Article V will be the final option before a dictator type government assumes control of our government. There are many people working very hard to get states to join the movement. All it takes is 32 states to recommend a constitutional amendment and 34 to pass it without any influence or participation by the federal government. If we can do that, there will be no need for a revolution.

This question has been contemplated by many throughout history. At this point in our present how we reject oppression is how we will be remembered. Do we let the slow creep of tyranny and corruption in governments continue until the country (and in fact world) we knew as children no longer exists? Or do we stand up and demand that the corruption be cleaned out of DC (District of Criminals) and all other levels of government in this nation? Our grand children will either be responsible free men and women or they will be slaves. The choice is ours to make at this point in time. Our government has FAR surpassed the conditions under which the founders rebelled. They would not recognize the nation they pledged their lives and their fortunes to create.
It is a sad, sad time when we fight amongst ourselves and the ELITE's sit back and watch all the while KNOWING WE ARE SLAVES.
We are slaves to all manner of taxes.
We are slaves to a fiat currency that is nothing more than a debt instrument and bears no real wealth. We are slaves to local, state and federal government that requires us to come begging hat in hand for the privilege of catching rainwater on our own land.
The time has been and gone when we, our parents and grandparents should have put an END to this tyranny.

First off, I am an Independent; not a Democrat nor a Republican. Let us not mince words. Trump was not duly elected. Duly means properly. The Constitution was written to imply that one had to win both the Popular Vote (Clinton) AND the Electoral Vote (Trump). All articles in the Constitution deal with Majority Vote; Both houses of Congress as well as the Supreme Court. Until George Bush II Lost the popular vote and won ONLY the electoral vote this was never an issue! Al Gore had won the popular vote and could have kept the issue in the air for months with a fight in the Republican controlled Congress. It wasn't George II but Al Gore who stepped up as a man and conceded for the good of all people. MAJORITY VOTE is the deciding factor in the Constitution and hence in both cases the loser became President. This aspect of the Constitution has never been tested because it never needed to be and is now being exploited by Republicans.

Negative, bud. I advise that you review Article II of the Constitution once more before you try to argue that popular vote was ever the means by which to affirm the proper election of a president. There is a reason the popular vote was never the final say and that is because the popular vote would mean pure democracy, also known as mob rule; this is not a democracy, this is a republic. The POTUS was, whether you want to believe it or not, properly elected.
I also didn't talk about Obama at all... But if you would like to discuss the Obama Admin, you should read The People v. Barack Obama before we have that conversation.
