HQ Company at Ft. Rucker was visited by some generals from the Pentagon. They did an inspection of our rooms while we were on duty. My Captain told me that one asked, "Who is the room assignned to? It is the neatest that Ive seen at any base, so far." My captain told him, and that I was an E2. The room was assigned to our section, and I was in a SP5 slot, The general started to ask, "Why is an E2 in a one man room?", then he said, "If he keeps it looking like this, let him keep it!" I had been in an eight man room, with just four men, and the others were real slobs. The one man room had had a fire that no one wanted to clean the smoke damage from, but I took it and did a thorough restoration. A couple months later, someone from another section demanded it, since he was a grade higher. He got it, but only because I was being transfered to a new assignment.
