I'll never forget the first time I heard him sing, definitely not what you'd expect from the Gomer Pyle character.

Sgt (Join to see) I remember when this episode aired. In my opinion, it is the best singing of this great song out of all who have sung it over the years. If I remember correctly, that was actually the Marine Corps Band in the background playing the instruments.
