PO1 William "Chip" Nagel A suggestion. Since the USS Wisconsin was decommissioned, and is now a museum, honor the state of Wisconsin in the following manner:

1. Make a mold of the Wisconsin badger statue now on display.
2. Obtain sufficient not in use "below decks" metal from the USS Wisconsin.
3. Cast a replica of the statue in metal from the USS Wisconsin, and present same to the people of Wisconsin for permanent display.
4. Return the original to the USS Wisconsin.

I'd be willing to donate $50.00 toward the costs involved, if some of our Navy members could get something started.

Not a bad idea.... however, I doubt the Governor Northam would go for that.... He's always felt "entitled" to his wishes and whims as the Commonwealth's supreme governing authority, IMNSHO.
Just saying.....

MSgt I just thought of something the Navy is required to keep 2 BB’s that can be recalled, and I know both the Missouri, New Jersey are museums, so supposedly the Iowa God knows how. I was in Norfolk when one of the gun barrels blew, and the Wisconsin are at the ready. So maybe they can scrap some off of the other 2 to make a namesake along with a cast of the badger. Even though they probably could go to university campus and snag a badger. I do agree though since it is a namesake. I spent a good bit of time on the Wisconsin during Desert Shield\Storm. Very ridiculously awesome boat. Captains words “Come on in the waters nice” lol!!
