This one is for the oldsters. Might be some contemporaries also. AF and Army stationed at Bragg or Pope, or dependents living in Fayetteville, 1976-78 time frame. If You wanted a new pair of Wrangler or Levi Jeans or Cords, or maybe a cool new casual shirt, did You go to Belk at Cross Creek Mall to make that purchase? Everybody that was in the area for any length of time knew where Cross Creek was. Getting to the point here. You probably bought those items from Me in the "In Gear" department. I just wanted to say Good to see You again. I was commenting on a minimum wage post earlier when I thought of this period of My life and how it lead Me to where I am now. There wasn't an "In Gear" department when I started at Belk, that was Me also(pat, pat). Hope the clothes did everything You wanted them to. Holla back if You remember. This one of those "6 Degrees" kind of questions.

Story.
Buddy bought a set of weights at Cross Creek mall.
Taxi ran out of gas in ride back to Bragg.
Buddy had to carry the box if weights for about half mile.
He almost chucked the when set over the side into a creek
Great memory.

For this question, I am "still spitting up yellow and wet behind the ears", but I did wind up at that mall quite a bit in my first six months on Bragg. Times had changed and nothing beats a good cool, accessorized suit. Euro mod was the edgy way to get in all the girls pants in Raleigh, and Chapel Hill. I was sporting the "high and tight" version of the "Flock of Seagulls" due and was on the road to the college triangle the second I was off duty and reappearing about 0450. There were a couple of local clubs that I did enjoy, not Rick's, lol. Your setting the guys up with the duds story sent me into rememberyville. Glad you were able to help your fellow troopers kick it. Thank you for the Sunday morning kick down memory lane. Fun to think of all the guys who influenced the little "Blue Ridge Boy" to step way outside the lane and learn to be able to step way outside the comfort zone to experience all the fun that can be had in North Carolina and the surrounding states.
