It never stops, bridges are required to be inspected at least every 2 years. I used to do it in a position I served in many years ago. Politicians stole from dedicated transportation funding back in 91. They want to give more money to it to more quickly fix the bridges but money is only part of the problem. They need to stop spending transportation funding on non-transportation projects. They also need to realize there is a limited number of contractors out there able to do this work so if you throw too much money at it you only increase the price. MHO

Good article ma'am. It's worthy to note that throwing money at our bridge problem will only help to a degree. As we found back in the 90's there are only so many contractors out there that can do this kind of work. Once they are saturated with work you only drive the price up with contractors thinking: OK if you pay me this much I will walk from these other jobs. Another big influencer for bridge construction are the trades. President Biden’s Administration has squished projects that trades people supported their families with from pipelines to oil refinement factories. His policies has pushed college at the expense of trades and in my opinion has demoralized the construction industry. He can’t snap his fingers now and produce skilled construction workers. It just doesn’t work like that.

They need to look at harbor protocols and policies. That’s the big thing in this case.
