I’m attending my siblings school tomorrow for a Veteran’s Day celebration! They said that the other service members always wear their OCP uniform (camo for you non army) is this true?

Just came from my Grand Daughters Veterans day program at her school. Those on active duty that came wore their services cammo and some of us old farts were in our dress uniforms. Which ever uniform you wear just wear it correctly.

SPC Ron Creech - Ron that's what I said, the active duty folks were in their cammies and us old farts that chose too, wore our dress uniforms. PVT Diller is still in.

SGT Jim Arnold - Roger, that's how we used to go to off post functions and I think it looks sharper.
Since the surge period here locally, active duty Soldiers have been allowed to wear their cammies at events like this and the old home day celebrations after marching in the parades. They are not allowed to consume alcohol or go to places that the primary purpose is to sell alcohol. I don't know if it is like that elsewhere.
I got the new style Blues before retiring and they still fit well, so that's what I wear when invited to functions.

If you have a choice, wear ASUs, "Blues." Veterans Day honors those who served and nothing says "Army" like the ASU--the Greens said it better but that's another story. The combat uniform usually is a rumpled mess looking like you slept in it because it can't be starched or ironed. The other services have the same problem with their work or combat uniforms.

Representing all Veterans, I would think you would Dress to Impress. During my era, you weren't even allowed to wear utility uniforms to off post locations except home. I don't know how it is now.

That's how I remember it. The protocol must have changed after my ETS.

After 9/11 the intent was to have all our service folks wear their uniforms almost everywhere so the public could see us. Having said that unless a unit is doing a presentation in utilities then dress uniform is called for.
