(9/11/2021) President Donald Trump showed up to support the New York Police Department on the 20th anniversary of 9/11. Trump told the NYPD officers and officials that they could straighten out the city's crime wave "in one week" if leadership would just let them do their job.
"I appreciate you, and you don't get enough credit," President Trump told the officers and officials in a visit aired live on Newsmax's "Saturday Agenda." "If they let you do your job…if you had the proper leadership, you could straighten out this city in one week...”
The former president also took a number of questions from the officers, including whether he will announce another run for president, or if he does not, would he consider running for mayor of New York City, Trump's former home.

Trump has said some pretty stupid things at times, but as far as I know he has always praised the men and women who serve as first responders.

Trump did not initiate the conversation. He simply responded to Filipkowski's question. The reporting of the conversation by Newsweek, Yahoo, WaPo, et al, is exactly the reason media and the so-called "coastal elites" are so distrusted as sources of dispassionate information.
