It appears that common sense is a very uncommon commodity. That being said, I believe that the most effective form of gun control available is to insure that all are held accountable for the manner in which they control their guns. If they leave them lying about or if they discharge them wantonly or accidentally, let them be held responsible. If others are harmed or their property damaged by irresponsible care, maintenance, security, or handling of weapons, let them be responsible for remunerating the victims. If anyone uses weapons criminally, make sure they are treated as criminals; pursue and punish them. That's what freedom is all about, isn't it? With freedom comes responsibility. Freedom without responsibility is reckless and leads to catastrophe. That's just common sense...

CPT Jack Durish you hit the nail on the head, RESPONSIBLITY. It seems that there is no responsibility any more, just a lot of excuses.

PV2 Larry Sellnow - I don't know any Conservatives who don't agree with CPT Jack Durish , that freedom without responsibility is reckless. There are no Conservatives who separate freedom from responsibility. "Freedom to be stupid", is just avoiding responsibility. Anyone who claims such is not a conservative, but a liar.

That agent needs to be put on desk duty for a while and have extensive weapons safety/handling refresher courses.

I carry all the time (whenever I'm not in uniform/at work) and I don't think I would be able to "forget" my pistol. As comfortable as my holster is (AlienGear) I would still notice not having the weight of my pistol at my side.

Yeah, I agree that more familiarization with her weapon is in order.
