The magnitude of service and sacrifice of the Vietnam generation cannot be overstated. It's no surprise, then, that when we asked for your stories about Thanksgiving while serving, Vietnam-era veterans answered our call in droves.

Last night on a Zoom presentation the Veterans Breakfast Club includes women who served in Vietnam in non nursing roles. Their trauma all these decades later is palatable. Some family members rejected them.

Go Almost Unrecognized For Their Contributions To The War Efforts,
But In Reality, Without Them, Many More Lives Would Have Been Lost Instead Of Saved.
Whether It's On The Front Lines Giving Aid To The Wounded, Or In The Office Assisting With The Combat Coordination ~ Without Them, MANY Things Would Not Have Come Out Anywhere Near As Well As They Did

Not the best Thanksgiving to remember,but memorable for this old grunt,our unit 3/8 Inf.4th Inf.Div were running search and destroy operations outside of a place called Tuy Hoa in Phu Yen Province during the latter part of the monsoon season ,November 1966 ,anyway the Army decided we should still enjoy a Thanksgiving day feast and had our Air assets fly out the meal ,all in mermite containers of course,unfortunately we had turned in our mess kits at the start of the operation,since C rats didn’t require them,instead we received thin white paper plates,a complete fiasco,snafu ensued plates and food turned to mush in the pouring rain,but gotta give to all the mess crews and chopper crews, they tried goddamn it ,and we appreciated the effort,then we went back to opening our C rats,Welcome Home Brothers

I don't remember Thanksgiving in Korea. the Korean cooks probably stole it. But every day i didn't get kidnapped was a Thanksgiving day which was about 9 months worth. Went over 6 2 165 came back 3 2 133. LOL that's pounds lost
