In my opinion, the US should take their Afghan allies on the offensive to kill the Taliban and train the ANA for a full spectrum of war. Right now the Taliban has freedom of movement to attack, defend, and retreat. They will use this to kill and harass those they can touch, and perhaps, change their loyalties by coercion and violence. One of the inherent goals of an insurgency is to grow their forces in order to take on the national forces.

MAJ Ken Landgren well said and articulately conveyed response. This make a lot of sense to me. We can then achieve victory as a nation and get the heck out of there!

I believe the true strengths or Center of Gravity (COG) is their ideology, willingness to die, and their safe havens. We can only touch their safe havens.

I concur with GEN Dunford's assessment SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL.
I trust that our involvement will move from primarily military to advice and assistance in other areas.

LTC Stephen F. absolutely, its just so dangerous over there as you know the ROE/SOFA is limited for colation forces and sometimes it gets political and here we go again.

SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL - If the politicians could keep their noses where they belong and let the military commanders on the ground do their job without their hands tied, then we might get somewhere. The same happened in Bosnia when the UN send General Rose in, gave him a mission but wouldn't let him command.
