The city is still supporting other Memorial day functions. It's not like they cancelled Memorial day in the city. Sad as it is they only had 6 groups of people willing to help, I can understand their choice. What is memorial day about? Do we need parades? I know for me I don't. It is a day for me to reflect and remember on those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice throughout our countries history so that we may be here and free today.

I'm more concern about society supporting our military than anything else, because they are many anti-military and anti-american in this country.

The story saddened me; but with only 6 confirmed participants, I completely understand why they cancelled it. I am happy to see that they DID expand the ceremonies held at their cemetery. At least they are still observing Memorial Day, just nixing the parade.
Sorry to say, they aren't alone in trying to keep people involved in observances. Society today is more about a day off work than a day to honor those who gave all in defense of their freedoms.
