I prefer military and prior military friends over civilian friends most of the time. Probably because we understand each other.

I agree for the most part. I have a few civi friends that I cherish but they don't understand the life at all.

The older I get, the more my military rubs off on my civilian friends. Influence to the good, is my plan. I am more and more convinced WE are the REAL 1% of this soon to be again great nation

I am blessed to have a large circle of friends/relatives and acquaintances from both my 'lives', similarities and differences in our relationships add to life enrichment.
One standard question I get from civilians "ever shot someone"? Of course I respond ''yes, many times"! Then walk away leaving them with their jaw wide open! As a nurse I gave many shots (injections).

They both have their good points. I find when talking to a Veteran it is like talking with an old friend. We just get each other. My Civilian friends are more of the time people again with a specific interest. I have many friends who are football coaches and golf buddies.

TSgt Melissa Post, I have a lot of civilian friends, but I have more veteran friends Nation wide. My civilian friends have different agendas and are usually busy with their own life. I can contact one of my vet friends, and we can pick up where we left off the last time we connected. We always have time for each other, and we really understand each other. SGT Lou Meza, an RP member, and I, reconnected a couple years ago. We served together in Nam. Even though we don't stay in touch all the time, we know we're here for each other, just like the friends I've made in RP.
