I served in many capacities in the military from 1974 to 2008 SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL from enlisted combat engineer to commissioned infantry officer to ORSA officer, etc. I moved so often that I got used to leaving people and meeting new service members and families and sometimes reconnecting with those I served with earlier. Since I am still connected with my USMA graduating class and some of the soldiers I served with over the years the transition for me has not been as difficult as I expect it has been for some.

You don’t talk enough. I admit this is a BAD flaw of mine, and even my boss is trying to break me of it. My issue is people aren't my people if you haven't served. They know which questions to ask, and when to STFU. At least my supervisor knows the deal, and he works to force me out of my comfort zone. My people wore the uniform (deployments don't matter, even though I might give you the side eye when you tell me how long you were in and never went). I would be happier than hell if I could literally go to work and not say a word unless required. But while the headphones are allowed, not speaking isn't. I seriously speak more words through typing here on RP than I do in real life.

I'm Miserable because I'm older than Dirt and they won't let me play anymore with the Young Dudes and I'm Friggin Jealous. No Mystery There. I have to be Happy being the Papa of 5 Hoodlums that I dearly Love. I guess that will have to work.

I'm miserable because I don't get to read the President's daily intelligence brief from the CIA, DIA and NSA every morning anymore and have to Wade thru BS to see if I can garner any real information.

I've found that just about everything that was Top Secret from my day can be found online today.
