SPC(P) (Join to see) You have got to be kidding me, right? This is INSANE! that money could be spent on NECESSARY things...this is NOT NECESSARY! It is not a Necessity...it is a choice...it is ELECTIVE and therefore should be paid for by the person who wants it..
If the Military is going to let this happen, then I think they should go ahead and let both males and females get COSMETIC surgery FOR FREE TOO and throw in tummy tucks and boob jobs, cause hey, what's the difference.?!?!?!?!

Sgt Kelli Mays I don't think I can say anything that has not been said 100 times for this. I do agree with you, give that money to honorable serving and served Soldiers, Airmen, Marines, etc. My take is, if I wanted to get a surgery done it would make me non deploy able, wait till X y & Z and in the end it won't ever happen, but they give him this?

SPC(P) (Join to see) There have been enough comments above that express my true feeling on this subject. There are so many other programs that need these dollars to help REAL WARRIORS through their nightmare with PTSD, TBI, MST, and other severe wounds and issues. I understand somewhat there is a need for this, but let's work on PRIORITIES FIRST - those that served honorably and that are paying the real price need to be helped first! Just my opinion!

I'm sorry, but elective surgery does not need to be covered, especially by someone serving time. This money could be used to fix the various problems with the prison system as opposed to unnecessary surgery. As an inmate provisions can be made for health and well being, surgery as necessary to prolong life, but this is just ridiculous!!

LT Miranda Bernabei - they haven't decided it is necessary, they just decided to avoid publicity and shut down the hunger strike.

LT Miranda Bernabei - The problem is Manning is currently in a penal system.......which means the Govt will pay for it, but it is still not a NECESSARY surgery, it is still a choice. Manning does not need this to survive
