Why I Won’t Give Concerned Veterans Of America ‘My VA Story’

I won't give the VA or anyone else my story. I was told by my VA service officer to never give the VA ammunition that could come back to haunt you. For instance, in Texas vets 60% and higher disabilities can get a free drivers license. When I asked him about that, he asked me why would I want to do that? He told me I have 100% disability, and if I receive a free drivers license, I won't be able to purchase a firearm because the reason I have the free drivers license will be marked on the DL and the FBI background check won't pass. So, I'm continuing to roll along without any flack from any agency, and that's the way I want it. Now in to this story.
Data collection and analysis, not cherry-picked anecdotes of veteran outrage, will help fix the VA.
Concerned Veterans for America recently launched a campaign called “My VA Story” asking for veteran stories about Veterans Administration hospitals. Great, you say, because the VA needs feedback. I agree. Stories of veteran experiences — if used properly — could benefit the community in countless ways.
The key is “if used properly,” and that is where I am not so sure about the CVA project.

You make a good point Keith. Never thought about the probability of backlash for disclosure of issues and civilian life.

I wouldn't have thought much about it CSM Richard StCyr, if that service officer hadn't told me what could happen if I applied for the free drivers license.

Tell me about that, Keith! The VA, in all of it's gretness, gave me a 'You can't drive anymore' lecture. Then they told the government about that, down to the states. When I go to get my ID, in this little berg in the Ozarks, they always say that I could clear that up, to get my DL back.
Then I show them my very own and precious scar up on my left temple, and I ask exactly how could I go about doing that, seeing as my seizures do continue.
By the way. Are you related to THE Bodines? Those guys that were involved in the Beverly Hillbillies? I need an in, to get to know those good old boys!
Anyway, yeah. I kind of do wish that the VA would let the people in the tag office know why my DL was yanked. They seem to think that I was a habitual drunk driver.
