When I was in, I loved hearing the cadence while we were running or marching. It gave me a desire to finish, and to finish first, if I could.
Drill instructors from the 1960’s to now gather to compete during an annual competition.
In Marine Corps boot camp recruits learn two things very quickly. The first: If a drill instructor looks happy, you’re fucked. Second: These guys go ape-shit for cadence.
But, really, who can blame them? Before they earn their campaign cover, drill instructors spend untold hours learning the finer points of marching, screaming at people, and calling cadence. It’s in their blood.

Couldn't understand a word of cadence, had to figure out what sound was meant for which foot and go from there. It's not about words but about sounds and rhythm.

Each DI had and has his or her own signature cadence. While I was in DO School, we were told that left was left, right was right, but let slide a bit as to how we pronounced the lefts and rights, but as long as cadence was called during the drill competitions within the series, the lefts and rights had to be distinguishable.

Capt Tom Brown, This must be new cadence. I've never heard it before and couldn't understand anything either. I was expecting this to be more colorful hear some really good cadence.

Kind of odd watching them call cadence without anyone marching. I wonder if that bothered them or impacted their abilities?

Sgt William Kelley, It may have affected their abilities. It sounded to me, more like an auction caller than a military cadence.

Wear was the cadence? Never heard but a couple of lefts or rights. Understood the Who told you to move! had that happen a couple of times. lol

That's the way most of us think SGT Bryon Sergent. Disappointed to say the least. From now on I need to listen to the entire video. Sorry for this one.
