They can pass all the laws they want, criminals will find ways around them.

That's the dumbest possible argument against passing any law.
SPC Casey Ashfield
LT James Jones - No it really isn't. Passing laws to mandate behavior is the basis for a sovereign culture, as opposed to anarchy. Pass laws you have 2 choices obey or disobey. Disobey, ideally leads to punishment. Because laws are broken does not mean laws are uselessly being passed generally.

Laws are passed based on the desire of the public to affect a certain behavior. Saying, "That law shouldn't be passed because criminals won't obey it," is absurd. Murder is illegal, but people murder. Theft is illegal, but thieves exist. Most drugs are illegal, but we have an opioid epidemic. The logic doesn't hold up.
LTC Matthew Schlosser
LCDR James Jones - When you know in advance that criminals won't obey a proposed new law, your only possible motive is directed against the law abiding.

I always wonder - "in custody"?
Go back to the 1930s - "suspect died in shoot-out."
