It's a private event, not a public space. They can allow or disallow any speech they want. So can (and does,) Trump. There is no special disposition or rights if you were invited to speak at the event, organizers of a private event can boot any speaker or audience member they want at any time they want. I get paid to do public speaking, if I started going off the rails from what the organizers intended I'm sure I'd be removed from the stage too and they would be fully within their rights to do so.

SPC Jeff Daley, PhD - You hit the nail right on the head with this, "My choice would be not to attend at all if that was the case because I am presenting my research, my finding and my work." They can do it and if they do it is your choice not to participate.

What I'm hearing is that you would not attend the event that the OP posted about, not that there are any free speech rights at play. I am quite sure nothing has changed on that in the past or now. We don't speak at political events and are hired because of our expertise. They could censor us, but are unlikely to because that would defeat the purpose of trying to get that expertise. For political private events, the organizers are more likely choose to exercise that right for obvious reasons and if you choose to speak at one you should understand that. Nothing improper there.

SPC Jeff Daley, PhD - The closest I ever got to politics was serving on my local board of education. That left me with the realization that I didn't want to get any closer than that. I see very few people who get involved in politics on the national level from either side that really seem to be more interested in us then their own personal gain, keeping their party in power or advancing their personal ideology.

SPC Jeff Daley, PhD - The 1st amendment protects you from the government; it doesn't give you the right to be a jackass where you're not supposed to. That's why obnoxious drunks get kicked out of bars.

This was big on the local news since it happened in the state I live in and although I thought it was pretty entertaining they DO have the right to remove him. It IS a private event. Freedom of speech doesn't apply at an event like this on both sides of the aisle.

SSG Michael Hartsfield...so now we get the one who can lend a possible unbiased opinion being she is from there. I thought about the Black college kids who went to a Trump rally, arrived before he did, were quiet and respectful, yet were thrown out for no reason other than being black. The excuses given didn't match, but those kids were sent packing. In the end, Trump had paid to use the space, and it was up to him who comes and goes. So if Trump can use a space to get rid of anyone and it's ok, then the same should be afforded to HRC.....but it's not. Thanks for the clarification Msgt.

How is this any different from what Trump does? He had a Black man removed from his rally, called him a "thug" and HE WAS A SUPPORTER! Just a little hypocritical

Neither was the supporter. Also, if you want to speak about something like adults, why put up this inflammatory tripe that only appeals to ONE group and it's the group that agrees with you? Just sayin'

SSG Michael Hartsfield - Why do you make up tripe and pass along lies designed solely to appeal to your group and incite others?

SSG Hartsfield: Curious instead of defending HRC you only redirect the comments to trump bashing. Inform us on HRC's accomplishments, inform us on why she should be president. Not once have you provided anything like this only redirected the comments to trump bashing.
