Agreed. Defense spending is almost as bad as social program spending. There has to be some type of accountability in whatever spending we do for defense. Otherwise we end up with the F-35 and V-22.

I think it's a given that Trump will be getting rid of the fraud and waste. After all, he is a businessman, and making a business run efficiently is obviously one of the things he has done well.

Your comment about proceeding incrementally, is right on the mark. I doubt many on this site would disagree with the military getting increased funding, Hell, we were complaining about lack of resources back in the 70's and I doubt much has changed in that regard. There never seems to be enough up to date equipment. But you have to be careful where you take it from if you are not talking about new revenue. Before you make drastic cuts to safety net programs, you might want to get your jobs programs kicked into high gear.......so those people losing benefits will have a place to go. If you kick massive numbers of people off of aid, and there are no jobs for them to seek out, then you are inviting a humanitarian and economic disaster. Create the jobs first, and then start gradually lessening the people on government assistance, and devote the savings, as they occur, to beefing up the military. If you try to move too fast on this, you will be shooting yourself in the foot.
