Anything Pres. Trump says about "winning wars" strikes me as something said by a two dimensional, cartoon character - a flat figure drawn on paper, with no depth to it at all.

While many of us were actually serving in SEA, young Mr. Trump was doing what many others our age were doing: riding a 2S draft deferment through four years of college. After he graduated from the Wharton School of Business in 1968, he found a doctor to write him a note saying he had bone spurs on his heel and could not be expected to endure the rigors of marching and carrying a weapon and such. (Even though he was an award winning athlete in football, baseball, basketball, and lacross.)

At a Trump Campaign event, a Vet gave his Purple Heart to Mr. Trump. Mr. Trump's comment: "I always wanted to get the Purple Heart." Mr. Trump, there's only one way to earn a Purple Heart. Riding out the War with 2S and 1Y Draft Deferments isn't it.

For the last 65+ years - thirteen Presidents - there have been only three who have not served this Country in Uniform: Pres. Clinton, Pres. Obama, and now Pres. Trump. It's ironic that the man who says, "The American Soldier no longer fights to win.", and, "(John McCain's) not a war hero, because he was captured. I like people who weren't captured...", and one of only three Presidents in my lifetime who have not served, is now the Commander in Chief of all those people he calls losers.

"The man who in times of popular excitement boldly and unflinchingly resists hot-tempered clamor for an unnecessary war (is) a far better (patriot) than those who, with an ostentatious pretense of superior patriotism, cry for war before it is needed, especially if then they let others do the fighting."
Carl Schurz, Union Army General, U.S. Congressman.
