It's a start. I'd vote for it. Then begin a conversation about replacing Obamacare with a multi-tiered approach. We the People are not a homogeneous group. We have different needs. First, I'd allow the market to develop solutions freely. Then I'd propose a safety net for the deserving poor. Oh, and let's educate people to the realities of life: If they want to take the risk and not provide for themselves responsibly, they must also accept the consequences. No, we won't leave them lying in the street but we sure as hell won't make heroic efforts to put them back together if they won't make the effort to provide for themselves.

PO1 John C. - You've a point there. IMV, it was meant to fail and be replaced (by the cuckquean and her administration had she not lost) by a single payer health care system.

There is no plan in place to procede the ACA. This is a waste of fucking time and resources. Our elected officials have plenty to do besides wasting energy on this single bill. If we are to repeal the ACA there must first be a plan in place to replace it, a plan that benefits all this countries citizens. To repeal and leave it at that is foolhardy.----I apologize if my writing comes off...sporatic and full of errors.... I am on the first vacation I have had in 6 years and have had a bit to drink.

Cpl Tom Surdi - You better keep on drinking. The GOP is attempting to out-Democrat the Democrats and come up with another omnibus bill to "fix" healthcare. The problem is that it isn't their job to fix healthcare. It wasn't then and it isn't now. The free market is the best fix for healthcare. Indeed, since the ACA was passed, the only viable alternatives have been small operators opening private clinics around the US and providing health care on a "cash and carry" basis. Yes, it would be appropriate for the govt to provide a "safety net" for the "deserving poor and afflicted". But healthcare is NOT a right. It is not any of the business of Congress to fix it. If there was something to fix it was broken by govt meddling in the first place.

They need to fix themselves before they start tackling major issues. Both parties were rejected in the election and neither has figured that out yet. That's why were seeing the frantic actions and failures. They've shifted from taking care of the public to trying to save face. This whole standoff is fun for the media but weakens us as a Nation.

The one-line bill:
“Effective as of Dec. 31, 2017, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is repealed, and the provisions of law amended or repealed by such Act are restored or revived as if such Act had not been enacted.”

Awesome! Short and to the point. I love it!

SPC Kevin Ford - True, but during the Obama administration, while ObamaCare was in effect, less than 30% of military-aged Americans were eligible for military enlistment due mostly to obesity.

SSG (Join to see) - You totally neglected the link between government and companies. This is where your views break down. Even if you don't want to admit it to yourself you are still making the companies rich under the Marxist system; only they're hidden so people don't see them. You want to believe there is enough money to pay for everything you want. There isn't. It's very sudictive to want to believe there is enough for everyone if they don't work, but is just isn't so. Read about the Pilgrims.

SFC (Join to see) - What companies? There are no companies, just government activities (government hospitals, clinics, etc...) free to buy drugs and or equipment from the same vendors that sell to Europe or Canada.

I'm talking about a dramatic reduction in spending, not an increase... so I'm not sure how you can argue we don't have the money for it.

Look at the Finnish system... or if we simply have to have insurance companies, lets replicate the Israeli system. What we can't afford to do is allow health care to continue choking the life out of our economy.

Where do the drugs come from? Where does the staff to run the government hospitals come from? Is this staff unionized? If it is you’re going to be paying outrageous payrolls, if not then you’re trampling on the very people you’re saying you’re trying to help. Look what happens at the VA: prime example of what happens when the government runs something. I can go on for another several pages but I won’t, you get the picture.

I’ll say one thing for you; you’re a true Marxist believer. Don’t say you’re not; look at what you advocate for. People on all sides respect Bernie Sanders not because they agree with his beliefs (they are wrong and will bring our country down), but because he’s willing to look you right in the eye and say he is for socialism and then tries to explain why. I respect your view point and where you’re coming from but you have to be honest with yourself and the people you debate with.

One last item: Our country achieved greatness from the free market system that that’s existed here from the Pilgrim’s time. This is our country’s secret sauce, the reason everyone wants to come here… that’s created our outstanding standard of living. You want to change that based on observations from a few small countries that can’t honestly be compared to the United States. All I can ask is you think about it a little longer. You’re not afraid of work or you wouldn’t be in this long discussion. You perform enough research to support your cause. Complete that research honestly taking everything into account. If you do I believe the true facts will lead you in the correct direction.
