So again - why is a valid ID an impediment to voting?

1SG (Join to see) - If you are not a Felon yes. I am not aware of any state that allows felons to vote while incarcerated

LTC Orlando Illi And that voter id card in India is easy to apply for and free. It can even be applied for online or sent in the mail. India goes to great lengths to make sure that anyone eligible to vote can get a voter id card and for free.

People who are against such laws here in the US rarely are against voter id across the board. However, many of the laws that people complain about were tailor made to make it difficult and not free for people who are likely to vote a certain way to get Id and select Id types that people who are likely to vote a different way already have or would be easy for them to obtain.

Here's an easy example drivers licenses. Think about the map that was passed around after the recent election with the big red swaths in the country and the blue centered in urban centers. Now where in the country will you already have a driver's license out of necessity and which way are they likely to vote on that map. The other side is where are the people who likely don't need and thusly don't already have a driver's license living and where are those spots on that map?

If voter fraud were really the concern we'd see these laws being made where Id was easy to obtain and free for valid citizens. But that's not the laws we see being made.

LTC Orlando Illi CA has an photo ID Card available thru the Dept of Motor Vehicles.

IF YOU CAN GET AN APPOINTMENT!! People are driving to other cities, towns and counties seeking a reasonable appointment date or even just a plain old, DMV walk-in service!

I am confused. A Presidential Commission to investigate allegations of voter fraud is somehow a bad thing, and having the ACLU suing to stop it is a good thing?

The ACLU is suing to stop the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity because they allege the commission is "not being open". The article clearly states that the Commission has only had one cursory introductory meeting.

On what possible grounds is this suit based? Other than obstruction.

The commission is rrun bu y people who have a history of mangling facts to suite there agenda and thee top t Chairmen are both reality impaired and the Co-chairman j8ust got slapped down and fined by a federal court for lying to the court.

It also is demanding that States commit criminal violations of their own laws by asking for information that they are legally prohibited from releasing

Those are some pretty hefty allegations you're tossing around there. Do you have any evidence to back up the allegations of "mangling facts" or "reality impaired"?

As to the Commission "demanding that States commit criminal violations", that statement is patently laughable. It's funny how when the Federal Government intervenes in cases of gerrymandering and voter intimidation at the State level, everyone is just fine with that. But when the Federal Government wants to see if states are legally enforcing the voter registration requirements (i.e., citizenship and residency), suddenly we hear the opposition start the slow drum beat of forcing the States to commit crimes.

You either want the Federal Government in an oversight position or you do not. And if you do not, then you must take two giant steps backwards with regards to every state level political hijinks that has every been pulled from Jim Crow Laws, to gerrymandering districts to favor one party over the other.

You can't have it both ways.

The ACLU doesn't give a crap about "civil liberties". The only thing they're worried about is trying to force the agenda of the democratic party.

There are "free cookie" people a plenty in the KY/TN area where I live. Lots of trailer parks and such. Those "free cookies" pay for a lot of lifted F-250's.
