"Vietnam remains a communist country today because the military was not allowed to fight and win because the politicians knew best. Then, they sealed the fate of the Vietnamese by letting South Vietnam die on the vine, with nary a word by the press."
Exactly.
Exactly.

I could not bring myself to watch this special series about Vietnam. I knew how it was going to be portrayed before it came out. Growing up in the 60’s before I could serve, and then being trained mostly by Vietnam Veterans, I just could not bear to watch the half-truths, and God knows what other snake oil they were peddling.

Watched it all sitting by myself, and my family left me alone. Good idea in some places. What I didn't experience some friends who didn't survive did. I went from Vietnam to a college campus in less than 2 months. I almost reenlisted after about a month. At least I would have been with people who understood.

My enlistment was up in Jun 69. I was at Cam Rahn Bay. Extended my enlistment until Dec. They let me out in Oct. Because of my prior in-country duty.

SSgt Donald Libby - After some of the shit I got at school (literally sometimes - couple of us had it thrown at us), I sometimes wish I'd stayed in until retirement.

I waited until I recorded all 10 so I could watch it at my leisure. Just starting tonight. Barb won't watch it. She said she doesn't like seeing the bodies, no matter whose. She knows enough from what I have told her over the years and went through my breakdown in 1992 because of it.
