It would be a nice change for a bill to be passed that helps folks out without adding all the political infighting.

As long as the government is willing to help out farmers, I have no problem, but when they tell them what's best to do, they need to back off.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel I do not know much about farming/agriculture and as far as I know, they are not tax exempt....but!.... I think they should put into farm bills that farmers are tax exempt or pay much lower taxes...after all we need them...and they work harder than most Americans........ Churches are tax exempt...and churches like the one hear which I can't stand, owns chicken and pig farms and their farms are tax exempt.

I don't know about all states, but our farm has much lower "on paper" value - as a farm. Consequently, taxes are lower. I would never sell off the land for housing or other commercial purposes. We've sold timber, but it was using the Forest Services "Timber/land management services", not to "strip" the land. Any profit the farm/timber makes is circulated right back into the farm. Another benefit: certain purchases made for the farm are tax exempt, such as the purchase of a tractor and implements..... Having the time of my life, so long as the "good-hearted" government folks don't try to jump into my dreams too much.....
