I'm embarrassed for my whole service. I hate to say it's a guard unit so what do you expect, but it's still not an excuse. The fact that a SNCO AND the COMMANDER thought this was OK is a travesty in my opinion. Really? WTF?

Another WTF here ? Why would anyone of any rank even do something that unprofessional during a swearing in ceremony and why would any officer permit it ? I'm not favorably impressed at all taking a sacred oath and having what I consider a lack of respect with that puppet thing on the raised hand You use to take that oath !

TSgt David L. - It seems if You have a breech of that respect and the leadership tolerates it there is a problem ! Self expression etc is fine in the proper forum, that wasn't the proper place or event at all ! That reflects very badly on any unit that would even think of allowing that !

SMSgt Lawrence McCarter - I've seen some Guard units that are all friends so they have a lot of fun together. At some point you gotta call Bob, Colonel and take shit serious though. Maybe I'm too ate up I guess.

TSgt David L. - I don't think Your too ate up, I think You view it the same way I do, looks like We both agree. Its ok to have friends and fun but there are times to be serious and respectful. This is one of those times.

SMSgt Lawrence McCarter - Absolutely. Seems to be the consensus to this point. It erodes every bit of respect some of us have tried so hard to earn the AF. I wish some folks cared what the other services think of our AF. Respect is hard to earn with clowns like this giving fodder to those that liken the "Chair Force" to all of us.

You know, when they commission you they have an expectation that you will be a gentleman. However, they fail to recognize that when you commission an NCO there is little room for some of those gentlemanly traits.

COL (Join to see) - My feeling is no matter what rank You hold there is never any room for that lack of respect. This is a sacred oath and should be taken seriously and is never a place for that sort of antics. I can't imagine why any officer would even allow anyone to have anything like that on Your right hand which is the raised hand You take Your oath with.

Well, first isn’t Air Force. Air Guard so right there if you have followed any of my comments you know I think AF doesn’t belong in DOD; not going to elaborate now. Also, the person administering he oath isn’t raising his arm. In retrospect I’m thinking this is some kind of Public affairs sock puppet thing. At least that’s what I’m telling my self when I think it’s the Air Guard jets that are protecting out nation. God help us.
