In 1970/71, my unit suffered from drug use in the barracks. We had one known occurance of sabotage on an aircraft, and there was one fragging in the hootch next door. When I went on R&R, I spent a night at the military quarters in Saigon, and I noticed literally hundreds of discarded "capsules" of different colors in the stairwell - that I presume had held drugs.

I am glad we mostly got rid of that with the all volunteer Army. It still existed, but it was dealt with harshly with courts martial and discharge. Thanks for your input, John. CW5 John M.

My unit arrived in late 1966 ,the earlier part of the war ,not that drugs were unheard of but their use in the field was a definite no,no and with our extended operations the opportunity to get and use drugs was virtually non existent, I heard stories later back in the States about fraggings and drug use but never experienced it while in country.
