A friend of mine who was a foreign area officer out of Thailand said that the Singapore military is even better than the Vietnamese military. I know that Singapore Air Force has a better F-15 and we do they have the F-15 Echo Sierra model which would probably run circles run F-35 once the F-35 is discovered. Too bad we couldn't have more of them instead of wasting money on the F-35. Any thoughts on the professionalism of the Singapore military? My friend thinks they're excellent soldiers and they actually had their first prime minister call a president for and ask how did you lose the war? Later you sent the team to study the Pentagon bio on the Vietnam War and detail because they wanted to know how this war was lost.

It's funny that you tagged me with this story. As some here know, I went through Marine Corps boot camp at MCRD San Diego in 1996 at the age of 35 1/2. I was the oldest guy in my company, including the company 1st Seargent (I had him by 6 months). Sometime during my time there, I heard of a rumor going around the base that some guy was going through boot camp with his dad. That of course cracked me up, since I was the "dad".
(For the record, I did not have any offspring going through boot camp with me.)

Nothing wrong with that. I was 31 in basic/boot. I graduated from CAARNG OCS at 33 years 9 months. You made it and I bet you did the 3 mile run faster than some guys just over half your age LOL. Good job! I got my Commision on the 8th of August, 1996.

LTC (Join to see) - My graduation run was under 20 minutes. I was pretty darn proud of that.
